Well, $950 later, our dog is still alive. And that’s a very good thing, despite the cost. Still, the cancer will take its toll soon. The vet also thinks it’s in her shoulder bone. The heart medication brought her heart back into the right rhythm, which helped her circulation which helped with the sluggishness. She’s still throwing up occasionally. I think maybe her stomach is too small because the cancer is pushing on it. Who knows? She eats sooooo fast. This is a dog that never threw up once before and always ate. Always. We are going to try smaller meals throughout the day. It’s not good on her heart to keep throwing up. We are getting the medication in two-week supplies. The vet told us to “take her to Disneyland.” Basically, give her whatever she wants and make her last weeks comfortable. We’ve been spending lots of time with her.
In other news, we are going on vacation to Cozumel (a Mexican island off of the Yucatan peninsula) in August. It’s a well-known dive spot. I will sit and read in the shade. Maybe nap. Drink some. Eat like a pig. Good times.
Thank god for frequent flier miles!
