Past Sunset

I was out one night past 12 o'clock
and the darkness buzzed with lamp fire
It was sweltering around me like a swarm of insects
Suffocating
An itching sensation across my body
I moved on
I was out one night past 1 o'clock
and the stars sang like violins on repeat
The same note resonating, to the same simple beat
Intoxicating
I could feel inspiration between my forehead
I stumbled on
I was out one night past 2 o'clock
and my bike pedals wrenched the air into revolution
Blowing up into my face, it repeated silence so loud
Clouded
My eyes were embracing a warms sleep
I slumbered on
I was out one night past 3 o'clock
and someone was shouting quietly in my eardrums
A whisper of yesterdays agony, todays salvation
Nostalgic
Thoughts painted days I could never restore
I waded forward
I was out one night past 4 o'clock
and tick-tock, my wristwacth told me I was out of luck
Chained by the rigid box I built my life within
Deviating
Pushed down a path of misunderstanding
I looked beyond
I was out one night and then the sun came up
and much earlier than the last sunrise I remembered
A velvet yellow whimpered out in spirals
Understanding
The never ending pattern leaped away
It felt like something was finished
I was out one morning enjoying the tender dripping dew
and I forgot why left in the first place.
