My comments on Chapters 98 - 107 of A Breath of Snow and Ashes under the cut. I'll be out of town starting tomorrow through next Friday so there'll likely be a pause in my ability to comment
Topic of the Week: Claire asks if Jamie put Tom up to confessing to Malva’s murder. Jamie says it was Tom’s decision. Did you think Jamie might have had a hand in it before this conversation?

1. Jem is singing Folsom Prison Blues and we learn that Roger had been singing. Thoughts?
Well he'd tried when he was in the woods alone one time earlier in the book, but I can't recall the exact timing, what he was doing, perhaps on his way to Amy's or maybe when he found Malva and she ended up crying, but I don't think it was then, I believe it was a bit before that.
2. Jem says that Angelina (a slave) saw Hector Cameron’s ghost coming out of his tomb. Do you believe it is a ghost, -what Bree believes- a visitor just out smoking, or do you believe it could be someone else?
It's probably stupid Stephen Bonnet! More than likely after the gold, whoever it was if it was an actual person.
3. Bree believes she’s pregnant and I tend to think so too. Roger is going to be a daddy again!
Woo hoo! No doubt this time.
4. Duncan tells Bree the gold is gone. There has been talk for a while of the slaves seeing Hector’s ghost. Someone moving the gold considering that it has to be heavy and would be obvious if someone took it all at once? Thoughts?
I doubt it went all at once. With the ghost stories and all, it's likely whoever it is has come and gone often.
5. Bree is doing a painting commission for Forbes. Do we think this was a wise idea?
Of course it isn't.
6. How did you feel about Roger at the Reverend’s house enjoying the 18th century roles of men and woman (the woman in the house cleaning up while the men were outside)?
He wasn't exactly enjoying. He did feel some guilt.
7. Jamie tells Roger Bree is missing. How did they find out?
I suppose they showed up at River Run or someone went to the Ridge and told them. It was rather abrupt.
8. Ian and Roger tag team Forbes. Forbes points out that Roger’s green eyes are disturbing. Dougal and Geillis long ago influence?
More than likely or perhaps they remind him of Bonnet's.
9. Did you wonder where Jamie was at this time? Did you like the revelation of what he was doing?
I figured he was up to something, but found it rather amusing how he went about what he did do.
10. Ian cuts off Forbes’ ear. Doesn’t it seem like DG is showing us that Ian is a little darker than we expected?
For sure. That Indian part of him coming out.
11. Manfred comes to Claire with Eppie (the prostitute Bree bribed). How did you feel about this portion?
Was glad it worked out. Was wondering how she'd end up telling them. Just figured they'd run into her on the wharf or something.
12. Bonnet wakes from a bad dream and Bree is forced to comfort him to save herself from possible rape. Thoughts?
I knew it had to be the same dream and thought, "Oh, it's going to actually happen once Roger finds you!"
13. Bree finds Phaedre on Okracoke and we learn that Ulysses took her from River Run because she voiced that Uylsses and Jocasta were lovers. What did you think of this revelation?
Not surprising since I already suspected it.
14. Did you believe Bonnet planned to keep Bree? Did you expect he was planning to sell her? Does Bonnet seem a little worse to you than before?
Wasn't sure. No, I hadn't suspected he'd sell her. I don't think he could seem any worse than I already think him.
