Saw that it had been suggested we make new posts, which makes sense as it might garner more readership and further comment, so here I am doing that for TFC 66-78, don't recall the checkpoint number, four or five. Comments under the cut.

"I was horrified and it did look as if it were going to happen that we would be losing him. Despite my annoyance I felt horrible for Brianna. I did get upset, the whole thing was so wrong, even if it hadn't been Roger the circumstances were all wrong. As I listened the first time I couldn't believe she was killing off a major character like that and kept telling myself, "They all have to die eventually." The whole thing is so gruesome, but so telling of DG's talent that it grosses me out that badly and evokes such emotions."

Oh gosh me too. I kept thinking DG wouldn't kill him and well I was right but what she's put these character's through. Geez.

"2. Perhaps, it'd be good if he did. He's been rather careless or thoughtless when it comes to Roger."

I agree. It seems like Jamie believe Roger can do everything he can and Roger just isn't up to it.

"5. Me too! I loved what Jamie did for Roger."

Me too. Though I suspect Jamie ends up in charge of the property because really... I don't think Roger knows what he's doing.

"6. Bodily whole, perhaps, he can still walk and function. But not totally since he can't talk and of course can't sing, which was his big thing, the thing he did well."

Yeah, I think Jamie is trying to make Roger realize that he's still in the world.

"7. Me too. And yeah, I think Jemmy factored into his recovery as much as Bree does. And yes, I think it does show that he cares."

Me too. It just seems like Bree gets that now.

"10. Yes, I found that interesting too and he obviously cares about both wives and the child Alicia carries."

But does he care about the other wife? I think this proves he cares of loves Alicia and the child but he never seems to consider the other wife. Makes me wonder.

"11. Realistic enough. I'd think it'd rattle anyone."

Yes, but I think Roger doesn't even think that Buch doesn't know him or who he is and Roger kissed the man's wife. So I think Roger's concern that it was family is a little melodramatic. Now if it were someone who knew he was family I could see it.

"13. Yeah, I just wonder if that's simply DG or if she did it on purpose."

Me too. I mean Roger is learning things from Jamie but this could just be DG.

"14. Not at all sure."

Part of me wonders if Roger is just feeling like he isn't part of the real world anymore.

"15. It was surprising and nice. Not sure what I expected. Not sure what you're asking with the last question. Do you mean that she thinks he should try more?"

I felt like Bree thought Roger was trying and that Bree is starting to see their relationship more for what it is rather than the struggle she made it.

"16. Maybe because he doesn't see himself as he once did and thinks that they do too."

Great answer and I agree.

"18. I find it odd that he's as talkative as he is at this point, seems he's a bit young for all she's written that he can do and say and understand. Like when Jamie tells him not to throw the ball into the fire or he'd swat his bum and he understands and doesn't do it. It bugs me. But as to your question, I think when I first listened I suspected something was up with it, but now I know so I can't honestly answer the question without prejudice. This is the incident I was speaking of in the former section, it's suspect since the necklace Roger wore the first time he tried to go through burnt his chest."

Oh man! I didn't put that together. That is so possible. Of course, Roger did have to go to the stones or try to go through for that reaction but wow... a male thing maybe. Interesting!

I'm going to check into the age thing because I wonder too.

5. Oh that is a thought. I think the Jem has the potential to be a lot like Jamie and if that is true then he would be a good landlord.

10. See that was my thought and then cat pointed out that he knows where she is which is interesting but there is the potential for another reason to know that but we will just have to see.

13. So we think DG had Roger do it because he's seen it in Jamie or she just wanted us to sit here talking about it?

LOL, that would be rather devious of her for sure!

"But does he care about the other wife? I think this proves he cares of loves Alicia and the child but he never seems to consider the other wife. Makes me wonder."

Well, he did point out where she was. He didn't have to and just let whatever happened to her happen, but he bothers to tell them where she is so they can help her.

"Part of me wonders if Roger is just feeling like he isn't part of the real world anymore."

Maybe it being the time it is makes it worse. He isn't of that time, it's not something he ever thought might happen to him, not that you can prepare to be hanged in any century, but I think it must be harder simply because he was this guy from the '60s and almost died by hanging when he thought he'd simply be a professor the rest of his life. So, yeah, it'd be hard to feel a part of the world when it really isn't your world in the first place.

True, we don't know from Claire about the whole jewel thing, so it could be a male thing.

"I'm going to check into the age thing because I wonder too."

Good, because like I said to ceirdwenfc I have no clue how old he's supposed to be or have the ability to check.

So they can help her? I don't remember this. Refresh my memory?

Very good point. Yeah I doubt Roger ever thought he'd be anything but a professor and fighting in a war?

I totally let this slip my mind but I will try to remember tonight when I read a couple more chapters.

About the other wife:

I don't recall exactly what was said, remember I'm listening and don't have an actual copy of the book to refer back to, but they asked him where they both were as if they would tell them if he died and help them out perhaps.

Did you remember to check on how old Jemmy is supposed to be?

I don't remember this at all but I think we have another mention of it later so we'll see.

I made a new post to show my train of thought to all interested.
