Possible sneak peek at Season 3?
Sam Heughan recently posted a photo on Twitter of him holding up of of the Outlander trading cards (from Cryptozoic) which he'd autographed. (More details about the trading cards here.)
What was interesting (to me at least) is that in the pic, he's being made up with blood. What wasn't clear is if this was a recent pic, e.g. taken that same day, so of him being made up for Season 3 filming. Some replied to that tweet speculating it was a pic taken during season 2 filming, probably the Prestonpans episode. Personally, I don't think it's from Prestonpans because Sam has some facial hair going on that I don't recall from that episode. Sam didn't elucidate either way. However, if it is a season 3 pic, perhaps it's a hint of how the season will open -- maybe same way as the book:
