Topic & Thoughts
1. How do you feel about the historical content? Do you feel that DG blends history and fiction well?
2. Oh gosh, I felt really bad for Jamie, Claire, and Fergus when Jamie had to punish wee Fergus. Do you think Jamie could have gotten out of it?
3. “And here I thought I married you because ye had a fair face and fine fat arse. To think you’ve a brain as well!” lol Gotta love Jamie-isms.
4. When Claire starts talking about the bones in Raymond’s shop, he seems pleased with what she says. There is more to that I’m sure. She also gets the feeling he wants to teach her something. Did this grab your attention?
5. Raymond’s reaction to Jamie seems a little strange to me. Yes, Jamie is huge and seems angry but even when Jamie is calm or when Jamie offered him his hand he had a strange reaction. Any thoughts as to why?

Okay the bite, scratches, and hickey on Jamie? Do you think he cheated? I don’t and yet those things really bother me. He doesn’t really explain them and if it were anyone but Jamie I wouldn’t believe them at all. What is your theory?
7. I feel so bad for Mary being raped. It is really sad. Madame Blanche huh? Very interesting. And trying to hide Mary upstairs during the dinner party. I do think it funny that Jamie hits Alex. Wonder if there was a mild amount of satisfaction in that?
8. Fergus is terribly sweet sitting with Claire while waiting for Jamie’s return. It is infinitely adorable how he mimics Jamie. Gotta love that kid.
9. I love Murtaugh. I’d forgotten that he does tell Jamie he is the son of his heart. I love how he tells Jamie he swore an oath to him when he was a week old. And when Murtaugh tells Claire he will lay vengeance at her feet, you know he’ll do it without doubt. How do you feel about Murtaugh’s devotion to Jamie?
10. Oh my gosh it is adorable that Jamie spread the La Dame Blanche thing to “save his virtue.” I love it. He’s so sheepish here and while he’s a man, he’s still young so you get to see that.
11. Damn it! I mean I knew even the first time I read this book that BJR was most likely not dead but for Claire to run right into him and then Jamie having to see him. Damn, what a scene. How could he possibly think Claire would remarry after all drama with her breaking into Wentworth?
12. JAMIE CUT HIS HAIR! NOOOOOO! Jamie’s hair. I love the mere idea of Jamie’s hair. I hate that he cut it. Your reaction?
13. I love the chapter with all of the court men and women watching the breeding of horses which prompts them to talk about their husbands. Too bad Claire is so adult and proper.
14. Oh gosh Fergus is too cute all the trouble he gets into. I have a feeling Jamie sees himself there. I love when they land from Jamie rescuing him and Fergus asks to do it again.
15. I love there plan for getting Charles Stuart’s wine but from the beginning I wondered how Jamie would manage on a ship.
16. BJR damn his black soul. I get that Claire is trying to save Frank and Jamie but she risked her baby. I don’t know how to feel about that. I mean because of that carriage ride she is losing Jamie’s baby which is just sad. This part always upsets me but the next Chapters are worse.
