made a visit to HMV...and get this, bitches...i got syd barret on cd! he's pretty difficult to find, but it gets even better...i didn't only get his first album, i got his SECOND album too! and to top it off, it all came in a single double-disc package that's been digitally remastered at...ok, here's the ace kicker to any king...$100hkd...that's only $15 bucks homeboys and homegirls in canada...everybody gimme a pharrellian "yessurrrr"...
so, i took a short break from this awful bio on mao i'm reading, and i purchased yet another book, "state of exception" by giorgoi agamben...i bought it today and also finished it today, it's that good. well, admittedly it's only 88 pages...so everyone buy it since i know it's available at indigo and chapters stores and read the damned thing - if u have any interest in modern states that is. and no, it's not postmodern drivel...it's pretty darned accessible.
but yeah, i guess i broke my promise of no overt philosophy texts this trip with that read...oh well.
back to that shit ass mao bio...i still have like 600 pages to go damnit...freak. i feel obligated to read it since i shelled out $160 for it...i need to stop buying books period here, since they're like the one thing - along with real estate - that's more expensive here than back home. i also got this livetheory book on baudrillard...yes, i totally plan on not reading anymore baudrillard texts firsthand by reading this short volume...i figure reading "simulations" was enough. yeah, i'm being a punk...what're u gonna do about it? it's impossible to read EVERYTHING...so yeah, my first philosophical read not reading the "original" text...cot damn, it's convenient though.
maybe i need to start doing the same with music...be the "greatest hits" guy...NO NEVER! that i'll never punk out on...because it's not laborious listening to music, i'll never punk out on the greatest hits front, besides my greatest hits of the Ohio Players - what can i say, i cannot find their originals! oh wait...my bill withers and isley brothers are also greatest hits...phuck i hate greatest hits compilations, they mar my pristine music collection. but i know i'll eventually hafta get horace andy in a greatest hits package, it'd be impossible finding his actual albums...greatest hits should be reserved when u've exhausted all other opportunities at getting the full albums. there, that's my music snobbishness for the day, and yes, call me on it with the deconstruction i toss at u guys all the time...damnit.
but yeah, i avoided a roland barthes reader today for that very reason...i want the actual books, but then, i went and bought the baudrillard volume...phuck u gil, phuck u.
here's a lame-o confession, i hated some of my course kits for that reason...they're selections...even though it'd be IMPOSSIBLE, i wanted the books damnit.
i'm saying "damnit" a lot in this post...and i've been saying "bitchessssss" a lot recently, i don't know where it's coming from.
yeah. yeah? yeah...
anyhow, i was just informed that i can't bring ANYTHING onto the damned plane by e-mail today from air canada...like no carry-ons whatsoever...WTF?! i've got like 2 stopovers, and i need to spend the night in seoul, korea...maaaaaaayn, no books, no journal, no mp3 player, no nothin'...i wonder how strict they'll actually be when the day actually comes, i'm gonna try to bring my books on board...i mean, how threatening could a book be? i mean, a book could be very threatening in terms of ideas, but like, it's not gonna take down a plane by itself? well, i hope not...
*correction* i actually only said "damn" or something like it TWICE in this post...that's actually not a lot...but i am saying "bitchesssss" a lot, but to no one except myself. like i just mutter it under my breath...or when i woke up this morning i screamed "whaaaaaadup bitchesssssssss..." i mean, i'm living here by myself right now, so i do these things for my own amusement. i guess? it's not very amusing though. this post is boring. later.
