First, I just wanted to say how much I love this. You know how I can be kinda :/ about headcase AJ headcasin' it up but I just thought this got all of it so well. Like, he wasn't insane or evil or unrealistic.
AJ had been in a number of situations which were not normal, many of which he had dragged himself into, such as getting his ass fired from Florida and having essentially way too much fucking sexual tension in the dugout. He liked to keep things exciting, admittedly, but that did not usually entail having the pitching coach just stop showing up one day. lol this is SO AJ. Also, I laughed at Posada hating him and everyone. One of the things I liked about this was that even though it was very serious, there were still moments of - well I guess you'd call them dark humor, but they were legitimately funny. Also lol Javy being sad. And the stuff about Andy - WAAAAAAH /obligatory Bexy comment No, but seriously, I like just the little flashes of other players in here. You capture them pretty well.
It was either that or find himself "accidentally" punching the catcher in the head. PLZ DO.
As for Dave... I found him kind of like a cipher in here. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but I really liked it. Like, you were just SO into AJ's head and not at all in Dave's, but at the same time you totally understood why he'd go off to Kerry. And yeah the sex was really hot and fucked up (in a good way) and interesting and all that, gah.
OMG KERRY GAVE AJ HIS BLACK EYE. OMG I CANNOT GET OVER THIS I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS. I actually gasped out loud when I read that lol >____>
Funnily enough I liked, a lot, how there wasn't any dialogue until the end. It takes a really good writer (like you!) to do that, but it made that one line more powerful. And of course, I love how AJ then proceeded to call right after being told not to. Oh, AJ. You are such a beautiful fuckup.
