Poem: The Woods in Which He Walks

Fandom: The Hobbit
Format chosen: Poem

The woods do not sound the same anymore.
He walks the paths he had walked as a child
Pools of shadows where there once used to be
Bright sunlight and cheery birdsong.
He walks this kingdom, touched by fear and wistful yearning in equal measure.

He looks at his world and he wonders about
What lies beyond the old trunks of these familiar trees,
But his duty lies with his father,
And he would not leave his people alone.
So he walks, and wonders, and watches.

Change is coming to the deep wood,
Has already begun to work on the very air
And the light that brushes the tops of the trees
And the sound of the water rushing in the river's banks,
And Legolas fears that they will not be ready
For what is stirring in this world.
