Dave looked a bit dazed at the Queen's gesture. "I... thank you, Majesty. Thanks for... this."
Scraps... no, Molly, was grinning up at Glitch. "I'm leaning on you." She told the other man. "Every thing's spinny. Like a top. A tipped top. Keep a hold so I don't fall over and break."
Dave felt his heart twist. This woman was his daughter, and someone had cut into her head and messed with her brain. Others had done horrible things to her and she'd survived day to day on her own in back streets, alleys and in the woods. No one had been there. And now that he knew about her, could try to be there... someone else had stepped in and got to be there ahead of him.
He felt like an intruder. He hardly knew anything about this woman at all. Unfortunately, she didn't seem to know much about herself except in flashes.
Holy shit... Glitch was HIS age. Okay, now he had more in common with the Queen than he thought. Sadly he'd always thought the two were cute and sweet together. Did it make him a hypocrite to suddenly want to scrutinize everything about the guy?
"Scraps, do you think we could talk some time? Alone." Dave felt himself asking.
Scraps looked at him and bit her lip. It was plain to see that even mixed up and jumbled she was able to consider risk assessment.
It felt like a punch to the git that she had to. That she considered him a risk.
"Of course, you could bring a friend if you don't feel comfortable."
Scraps nodded. "I want to swing. Let's go swing." She looked up at Glitch.
Glitch looked back and forth between the Queen and Dave.
"Okay, doll. We'll go swing." He scratched his head. If I can remember where the gazebo is."
