Wolf at the door

Feb 07, 2008 13:47

 Who: Lord Devlin, open
What: Digging in
Where, guest quarters
When: January 2, after meeting with the Queen
Warning: None

Devlin had gone over every inch of the rooms he had been given.  He was just as glad Javier, the Manservant his father had sent along with him, had been placed in the servant’s wing.  Yet it also annoyed him.  Javier was sixty three, thin, proper and flawless.  He was also no doubt gathering the talk of servants and digging out the nuggets of truth to report back to the Count.  He just had no solid proof beyond his knowledge of his father’s machinations, and gut instinct.  Not enough to have the old man taken in as a spy.

Meanwhile, Kevin, his ‘assistant’ was completely trusted.  He’d fought beside him in the resistance and knew all of Devlin’s secrets.  Including just how incredibly difficult the battle of the eclipse had been on Devlin, himself.  How he suffered before during, and after, and why he was absolutely brutal in the fight.  Almost berserker in his killing, preferring to be in the face of his enemies.

Kevin was also housed in the servant’s wing.  And he was keeping an eye on Javier.

In the Guard housing he had four of his Wolves.  Three men and one woman who had fought for Queen and Country.  They were officially his body guard, and each shared the same knowledge Kevin did.  Secrets.  They were sworn to keep them.  Even against the Queen.

“Your things have been put away, m’lord.” Javier’s gracious demeanor irritated Devlin.

“Thank you.  That will be all.” Devlin indicated the door.  “I’ll summon you when I need you.”

Unable to find a good argument to stay, the Manservant quietly left.

“Her Majesty looks pale.” He looked to Kevin who had thrown himself in a  elegant chair, his short red hair standing out against the black of his clothing.

Kevin snorted.  “You would too if you were imprisoned for ten years.”

“I want you to report any servants gossip about Azkadellia to me.  If the Sorceress still lives…”

“We’ll all make sure she never harms another.” Kevin inclined his head.  “Yes, sir.  Right away, sir.”

“Insolent pup.” Devlin wore a crooked smirk.

Kevin just snorted.  “Dev, you love it.  If you didn’t nip at the heels of someone you’d get board.  My heels are tough.”

(ooc: Kevin and Javier are NPC's.  Feel free to play with them.)
