Kith and Kin

Where: Halls of the palace
When: January 25th,  4PM
What: Reunion

The stable master had been confused when he rode in.  His reaction only further confirmed what the late editions of the newspapers that reached him already said.

The horse did not belong to the royal stable.  And he had not ridden out.  That was the confusion.  The back, and equipment was another point for the stable master to ponder.

Evidently his insistence on tending his own horse was one thing that didn’t surprise the man.  He approved of what that indicated.  Good man, always take care of your horse first.

He only nodded at the man with a grin when he was finished.  This seemed to further confound the man.  Huh.

He took a moment to pull out the cigar he had pinched off earlier.  He lit it and took a few  pulls to calm his nerves.  Instead of a few pulls he finished it off before crushing it under his boot and continuing on.

He had dressed for the occasion.  You didn’t walk into a palace and look like a beggar.  His long, brown leather duster he’d cleaned up.  But he wore a crisp sky blue shirt, and black leather vest.  His pants were also black, cloth instead of his usual durable suede. Hell, he even wore a tie, bolo that it was.  It counted.  His gunbelt held both revolvers safely tied to either hip, because visiting a palace or not, those stayed by his side, as did the knife in his boot and the one hidden in his belt buckle.

He figured he could just walk on in with them on because he was the guy in charge.  Hopefully.  It worked before. Especially when he kept his black cowboy hat on and his chin low.

And it worked.  He passed the guards roaming the grounds with a nod, and the fearsome looking fellows both inside and outside of the doors.

Once inside the palace, however, he had no clue where to go.   If he asked he’d give himself away.  So he decided to scout the place.  People didn’t stop you if you walked like you were heading somewhere with purpose.

It had been ten years since he’d seen any family.  For near seven of those he’d been passed word they were dead.  He’d drank himself into a stupor and screamed at the moon like a crazy man.  Then got back to what he was doin’ completely hollow inside for months.

Morgan Cain had finally found his twin alive and well.  Now he just had to surprise him before he clung to him and likely teared up.  He sure hoped Wyatt was alone for that portion of the agenda.
