From the time that she got up at seven, until right now, everyone had been asking her how she was, if she was okay, did she need anything. God she wasn't going to snap into pieces, she wasn't breakable, damn it. Yet everyone thought that she was just a weak little girl, ( Read more... )

Part of her wanted to ask him why he was such an expert on that, but then a larger part told her not to even worry about it and to just take his word for it, which was exactly what she was going to do. The spanking bit caused her to cough herself, not because it wasn't possible but because it was unexpected.

"Don't be jealous Jason, I know you want me to spank you too." It was worth it, because the look the he was now giving her caused her to giggle. Just another example of when he amused her without meaning to.

DG nodded her head slowly as she was informed of just what the 'punishments' were. She'd figured as much. Cain really didn't need to come down on them so hard, they had done what they could. Zero just knew people who had magic, and there was little to nothing that they could have done about that. He was overcompensating again.

"I need to really talk to him, or talk to my mother. There's only so much that the guards could have possibly have done." DG replied slowly, her fingers toying with the edges of the table, with a slow shake of her head. "He's being too harsh."

Dave had to force himself not to turn around to see Jason's face during DG's comment. Oh, it was doubtless one of those priceless moments as well.

"He's doing what a Captain has to do. There has to be two guards working with the army we have out there watching the roads anyway. It lets them mingle and share hardships, make friends so the Guards and the army don't have much conflict or think one perceives themselves better. Sending those four instead of two, for a month instead of two weeks is discipline, but it also assures they'll pay attention, and if they don't quit, it proves their committed. Once they're back, nothing will be held over them."

Dave tapped the side of DG's hand with the side of his own. "And cleaning is standard discipline. Nobody's hurt, but it isn't a favorite task. He's been doing the course three times a day, himself. He's respected for the fact that he doesn't hold them to a standard he doesn't hold himself to. The three times thing is for seven days."

Dave didn't mention he was on it as well. He'd officially been in charge during the event. He was lucky he wasn't sent to lick the column's clean at the Northern Palace.

Just because he was doing what he had to do didn't mean that she had to agree with it or think that it was fair. It was a magical entrance - that was all there was to it. Cain was going to need to be sat down and given a stern talking to, and wow wouldn't that be such a change of roles? Well she figured that it was time to start acting like the adult that she insisted she was instead of trying to relive out her childhood, it wasn't getting her very far.

"Yeah well it still seems like he's being too mean. There was only so much possible." She murmured under her breath as her eyes wandered over towards where Jason was. "So what are you going to do, now? Since you quit or were fired, whichever you prefer." DG managed to force a small smile at that, her head tilting slightly in a curious fashion.

Maybe she should get a tattoo on her forehead, one that said, 'I'M OK'. That might be a tad dramatic but at least it might work, right? Probably not.

Dave shrugged when DG said she thought Cain was being too harsh. She was entitled to her own opinion. Hell, she could actually order him to ease up.

"Oh, I was fired. If I quit, that's be it. Greg and I would have been outta here. Really piss the boss and see if they'll take me on as a Tin Man in Central City." Dave smirked.

"Actually, I'll end up doing a pile of paperwork. Drive Sarah crazy by actually handing reports in on time instead of the next day."

Dave finished the last bit of sausage. "It's part of my master plan on the firing thing. See, if he has me really tossed out, that invalidates all the paperwork, and he'd have to redo it all. Do you know how much you can get done on a day dedicated to it? It's just not worth really booting me in the ass."

Dave paused and looked thoughtful. "Unless he's been firing me to get the paperwork done. That's undermine my master plan. The sneaky bastard."

He was a crack up, he really was. Dave seemed to make everything he said be amusing, at least around her - she didn't think he would make small talk with the prisoners or whatever. Which is what she figured he was tired of. She could understand that, good people got sick of it.

"Well that's good, because you don't want to upset my mother with late reports, she's not very fun when she's mad." DG announced with a grin, her head tipping to the side as he talked about his master plan. Everyone had one, even if they didn't know what it was.

"He might be a sneaky bastard, you should watch out. He's making you do those reports all by yourself!" A mock exasperation, but one she figured Dave could use, he looked stressed out.
