The night was a complete disaster after the first couple of hours, and she was (selfishly) glad that her and Raw had left when they had. Despite the fact that she had been so close to being in a deep meditative sleep she had re-awoken instantly when Raw had shot up from his spot and left, telling her to stay put and meditate.
It'd become clear to her what had gone on when she woke up early in the morning and moved through the castle, there were many more guards around the royal quarters and not a single soul had seen the Queen since last night, which was not a good thing. While Lavender had always been a busy soul she had made time to show others she was alive and well. Not long after she'd learned the details of everything and now understood why Raw had disappeared on her.
With stealth like any massive cat she appeared near Peter with little to no warning at all. "Peter. Come with me," Bahst ordered lightly as she took a hold of his wrist and began to move down to the infirmary. "There is much we must do, with not a lot of time."
After Raw had healed Azkadellia's lead guard Johnson, he had surveyed the ballroom, looking over all the wounded. Cain was busy rallying fighters, so the Viewer decided to coordinate getting every moveable wounded man or woman into the Infirmary. Where with the Human healers, he could (with the help of Bahst and Peter hopefully) make sure that each one was healed
( ... )
Peter had followed Bahst obediently, after an initial jump of surprise from her sudden appearance. Well before they arrived he could feel the immense flood of pain from the area. His shields, already weak to begin with from last night's intense assault of the crowd, left him feeling shaky and disoriented.
He had no clue what was going on or what had transpired, but details could be filled in later. What mattered was helping others.
'I can't. Not like you and Raw.' he 'spoke' to Bahst, his uncertainty more strongly felt through their physical connection. 'I healed DG. Once. It was small. This is much more.'
Despite that, the pain of the others was a plea for help that he could not deny. He moved away from Bahst and went immediately to Raw. He placed his hands lightly on Raw's forehead; his own vision blurred. Focusing all he could, he did his best to soothe the headache.
With a shake of her head she looked him over for a second before continuing to lead him, 'You mean like Raw, I am able to basic heal cuts and scraps,' She corrected with a small smile as they entered and she nodded her head to Raw, feeling the headache he had. "I must not do much at all, it would be damaging to the unborn cubs." Bahst announced as she looked around the infirmary.
Most of it was done but there was still much to fix, mostly the concussions and bruises and that of itself would be a massive chore for her. Namely because she had to keep nearly all of her energy to keep the cubs protected from the floods of emotions from all those around her, too much of the outside world involvement with her unborns and they could easily die from not having shields.
The Viewer nodded his thanks as the pain in his head ebbed away, but the Cub's beginning talent at healing was no match for the amount of energy drained from Raw. 'Many injured, worst taken care of. Bruises, concussions, gashes.'
Bullet wounds had been the first healed, there was even a metal bowl in one corner with a pile of bullets he had removed from the living bodies. He finished the healing of the man in front of him's face, a nasty cut from the bootknife of one of the Longcoats. The brown haired man nodded thankfully and hopped off the table, the Viewer moving over to the next patient.
"Careful of energy," he reminded his mate. Even though they both were well aware she knew how dangerous it would be for her to be drained.
Peter nodded in understanding and looked around the Infirmary. He started walking towards a nearby patient with gashes on both arms, perhaps from glass, only to pause and look back at the mates. "Unborn cubs? So soon?" he blurted out before correcting himself. "Uh… I mean, congratulations! Have they started kicking yet? I would love to feel…" He paused and blushed. "Uhm, well, maybe later." He focused on the patients, which was more than a distraction for his own embarassment.
He greeted the patient with a kind smile. Despite the circumstances and injuries, it felt more like a day at the office. It was a pleasant thought that made him think of his meditation room, and because of it, he was better able to focus. He held his hands over the woman's arms, and began to concentrate. A gasp of surprise from her jolted him from his focus.
"Y-your eyes! They became… something else…" She stammered, at a loss for words.
"What do you mean?" He hadn't the faintest idea what she meant.
When he blurted out the first thought she watched with an small smile before nodding her head, "So soon, thankfully. We are getting to the age where it would be impossible to have cubs," Bahst replied with a short nod of her head, "I am 64 annuals old, in one more annual I would be completely unable to have cubs." If it was anyone else she wouldn't inform them of all of this, because since that damned article she wasn't sure who to trust, but he was a viewer - partially, he could know.
They still had much to do in figuring out how much he was different from the others, as far as specific things - such as having children, went given that he was more human then he was viewer.
With a nod to Raw she moved towards a couple of the people near the windows and stayed silent as they watched her curiously and worked simply on healing them and moving on.
Raw tilted his head in amusement at the Cub's shock, followed by happiness, and then embarrassment. After all the horrifically dark and pained emotions flowing around in the last half day, it was a balm to the Viewer's very frayed nerves. Shaking his head in exhaustion, he returned to his work, to the next patient. A young man whose shoulder had sustained some damage, not from a bullet, it looked more like a ragged stab wound. It appeared that the knife had been twisted before being pulled out
( ... )
It did not take long for the gashes in the woman's arm to heal. At least, to him, it did not take long; maybe five or ten minutes. He had no concept of the time passing. Peter gently shook her hand as she departed and his smile was genuine as he accepted her thanks.
He started to move on to the next patient before pausing. Raw's pains were clearly felt, and naturally he wanted to help. Not pausing to think, he went over to his mentor and linked hands with him.
'Separate, weak. Together, we are stronger?' His mental speech had already taken on the simplistic patterns of Raw's own.
In the same time Peter had healed one wounds, she'd managed to do three, but they were concussions, some of the easier (ironically enough) things to heal. However by this time she was very tired and could feel her eyes blinking hazily despite her efforts to keep them open. She hadn't pushed herself to the point where she would put the cubs at risk but she was on that edge, which is why she'd pulled up a chair and sat down, closing her eyes once more and just barely catching onto Peter's mind speech.
'Everything is easier together, for nearly all living beings. Especially such a race which uses their mind powers above all else.'
The Cub had come over and placed his hands over Raw's, filling the much older Viewer with a surge of energy. His own abilities to heal for the moment were wore near to the core, but he could direct the halfling's power with his own control.
With a grateful nod, his held their combined hands over the next patient. A noblewoman with red hair who had earned herself a scraped line along her jaw. Closing his eyes, he mentally grabbed at the Cub's abilities and directed them to heal with decades of learned skill. The wound disappeared nearly instantly.
Bahst's increasing tiredness worried Raw, while his own was brushed aside in his thoughts. She could not be of much help to any of them if she attempted to continue on. 'Love, return to rooms. Sleep, eat, meditate. Rest is needed.'
He was pleased that she stood and left the room without protesting, as much as he disliked playing dominant rather than equals. In this case it was more superior logic than any sort of power play.
For the next half hour or so, Peter followed Raw and healed the injured. What he lacked in training for his abilities, he made up for with youthful energy. Together with Raw's direction, they managed to clear out most of the Infirmary. Eventually Peter could feel himself weakening and needed a break for rest. By then only the most minor of wounds remained.
"What happened last night?" he asked Raw as he took a seat on an empty bed. Now that the emergency had mostly passed, his curiosity had returned. "I'd left the party early…" He felt guilty and embarassed by that. While he was passed out from overindulge of drink in his room, people were being hurt or killed.
The Human Healers could handle the rest of the patients, most did not need more than a bandage and some of the barest healing spells. With a sigh Raw sat down beside the Cub, looking over the room and it's mess of chaotic emotions. Not nearly a quarter as bad as the Ball, but powerful all the same. Thankfully it was calming down, fading into the background.
His golden eyes found their way to the Cub when he felt the influx of guilt and embarrassment as he spoke. He rested one hand on the halfling's shoulder, "Cub would only gotten hurt, Raw glad Peter leave early." He and Bahst had after all, he did not want to think about what could have happened to her if they had not.
"Zero come. With Longcoats." He shook his head sadly, "Take DG, Azka-dee, Jeb." The smell of all the blood left in the room had stayed in Raw's nose for hours afterwards. "Shot Jeb, others, few die, more injured."
Peter placed his hand on Raw’s and squeezed gently, thankful for the calming support he felt from his mentor. He was momentarily stunned silent when the previous night’s events were finally revealed.
“The Princesses were taken?” A dumb question, but he was too stunned to consider that. “But where… why?! And whats a Longcoat?”
It'd become clear to her what had gone on when she woke up early in the morning and moved through the castle, there were many more guards around the royal quarters and not a single soul had seen the Queen since last night, which was not a good thing.
