I'm moving.

In a few weeks I will pack up my life and move it to the small coastal town Fort Bragg, approximately 3 hours north of SF. We should be gone a minimum of 6 months but more then likely it could be up to 8.

When we were up there last weekend, some wonderful opportunities fell into our arms. The General Manager at the Holiday Inn (the only corporate hotel in the town) wants Justin to come work for them. If Justin hadn't moved back to Santa Clara in the winter, thats where he would have worked. The pay is very good and it's the full time night auditor shift.

So I thought it would be cool to move there, take advantage of the job, and as it turns outs, after 6 months you're considered trained and can transfer anywhere in the country, at the position you're at. That means when we come back to Santa Clara he'll have a job lined up with better pay then any possible dead-end jobs that he would have if he worked here.. and he has full benefits..

Me, on the other hand, was planning on going to the tiny community college up there but unfourtunatly its too late to register and although classes would not be full, I can't play catch-up on several weeks of work. I was also offered a job at the Beachcomber, another popular hotel where his grandma is the Assistant General Manager AND the a job at the Holiday Inn, as well. I'll have all day hours.

Can you say hook-up? Heh.

So having school out of the question I'll be working full time at both the Holiday Inn and Beachcomber, racking up a pretty decent amount of hotel experience. Now, mix that with the several years I've spent in restaurants, the chances of me getting a good paying job and the possibility of starting a career that involves both aspects is greater. Who knows, maybe one day Justin and I will have our own hotel, lol. Running hotels is defiantly in his family's history.

Anyway.... so thats it regarding our income... in regards to living, rent is pretty inexpensive. We should be able to live comfortably. That, and we already have most of the house furnishings that we need. His mom is giving us some stuff, my parents are helping out and we just need a few trips to Ikea, Target and Goodwill and we'll be set. It's going to really suck taking a Uhal that far up north, though...especially on Highway 20. Jesus. Its like the narrow, curvy mountain road from hell. A 45 minutes hell, too.

As for social aspects, its a very small town. Parties are quite common and he still knows some people up there so I should be making friends in a short amount of time. And his aunt/uncle have horses... so with those things mixed in with email, LJ, AIM and tv, his grandma's tiny kitten and dog, I should be okay.

Emotionally I'm getting stronger. The last few days I've been kinda depressed because I've never moved anywhere and the thought of leaving everyone was so overpowering. I've been in Santa Clara my entire life, so this is the biggest step I've ever taken. I'm going to miss everyone like crazy, especially my mom, but I feel this has got to happen. Its such a wonderful oppurtunity...jobs that we didn't even have to interview for, an income so decent we might even be able to afford a one bedroom house thing, the town is beautiful and we're going to be living on our town, together. And its not like we're going to be absolutely on our own, since he does have some family up there and already a few of my friends actually *know* of Fort Bragg and that area.

So all you people better fucking visit us. We'll be down for important holidays (and hopefully for the Vanguard Banquet...)

Yeah. Thats whats up in the world of Mara. If anyone would like to help us with moving, donating unwanted cooking utensils, anything at all, please let us know, because it would be a great help. We will welcome help from everyone.

...yep. I can't believe I'm doing this. I'm scared as HELL and its going to be a bitch and a half to move all our shit up there, but I'm excited.

I'm growing up. Scary thought.
