very clever! my only thought is that the apocalypse actually brings on paradise & sam and dean never had eden to lose. (i'm thinking somewhat in biblical terms though.)

go buy a copy!!! it's surely cheap!

I can't see Supernatural doing the judgement day thing in proper biblical fashion though, really. I mean, in Supernatural, the heavenly chain of command is likened to a capitalist business model. But, I don't know, maybe it will eventually, who fucking knows, man. Just when I think I know where Supernatural is going on me it always switches anyway. And up until just now I'd only considered Sam as Eve jokingly but Supernatural is so messed up that it actually works. asdfghjkl;'

And it is not cheap! ): When I was doing book shopping last week all the copies I could find were big plush ones with loads of appendices for £10+. Maybe I'll look on Amazon and see if they've got more of a variety though.

yeah of course. i mean it's a contemporary retelling and a tv show which changes the whole thing...it'd be kinda nice to see Sam as leading to the downfall of humanity, rather than a woman! even if the snake is still there...

penguin classics here has it for 14NZD (£5.30). appendices can be pretty useful for PL though...

And it's not doing it literally or by the book at all, really. I mean, hi, demon blood. Also, do you think that because Ruby played the role of the snake/satan that makes it more likely that Lucifer will choose to possess her? 'Cause y'know he was possessing the snake in Paradise Lost or do you think it'll simply be Ruby was his agent, she's gone, no more Genevieve Cortese with her pretty lips.

Oh, nice! In the bookshops I went to they were selling this big copy with notes by Philip Pullman for like £16.99 (43.83 NZD) and there was some other one with no price on it anywhere. \: Amazon has the Oxford World Classics edition for £4.79 (12.36 NZD) though! Result. :D

yeah, i'm sure that partly reflects the other influences in play! more recent texts/biblical. i'd agree with that thesis :D plus i've read how much Kirpke loves Genny and she is hot, even if she really can't act...

wow, notes by Philip Pullman...>.>; i would not pay $40 for PL. i hate how books here retail for $30-40. it's ridiculous. (though i bet i'll be complaining even more bitterly when i get to japan...) NICE. SAVED BY WORLD CLASSICS!

Guess so. Also, wasn't SPN always intended to have that kind of mixed referencing? Like American urban legends with more traditional myths and stuff like that. So it'd make sense that - even if the reference points have shifted - they're still picking bits and pieces from assorted places. And Kripke loves Gen? Well, I guess that does up her chances of reappearing. Only time will tell, I guess! (Or more reliable announcements, y'know, whatever.) Agreed! But who can act?

I wouldn't pay that much for any book unless there was only that edition and I needed it. Dude, what's minimum wage in NZ? Because I'd expect to pay ~£8 (~20NZD) for a paperback book and the minimum wage per hour here is ~£6 (~15NZD). When you are in Japan I will send you novels as care packages or something.♥ Funny story: the publishers published the cheap edition as the fancy one? Weeeird.

yeah, i don't even think it's something that has to have a lot of intent these days, but there's definitely certain elements of pastiche and appropriation to Spn. that's what i've heard. i know spn is not the holy grail of acting, but she's seriously not very good! it pains me to say it.

yeah. i'd only pay that much if it was a set text and even then i'd probably try and find a cheaper option. minimum wage is $12.50. it's gone up a couple of dollars in the past few years...$20 paperbacks? :((( $30 is definitely the going rate here. so really they're kind of luxury items. hehehe so sweet of you to offer! ♥ i'm already planning what to bring b/c you only get a 1 checked luggage, 20kg allowance...D:

Yeah, I don't think it's a super planned out, structured thing but god do I love that show. Yeah, I know. It sucks though because SPN makes me feel like a complete misogynist. I want to love all the girls, I really do but they don't make it easy.

Same. But, yeah, RRPs on paperbacks are generally around that. It's weird but books have never been luxury items for me. I guess because I could always get my mother to go to a bookstore with me and have her buy me whatever. But, seriously, I can always go to the Amnesty Book Shop and get super cheap used books to send to you if you are in need.♥ But D: at the limited luggage allowance.

xD i certainly like it well enough! looking forward to s5. that's the THING. i ADORED Katie, and i loved Bela despite the weird accent (possibly BECAUSE OF the weird accent. and her pure gorgeousness. and the potential for Dean/Bela angry sex). and there have been SO MANY guest stars i've been like 'oh hell, i fucking love this character, which MEANS THEY'RE GOING TO KILL HIM/HER, DOESN'T IT.' i didn't really like Jo though. the character was cool but something about the actress, possibly...idk. i loved Ellen.

lucky lucky lucky. i used to get scholastic books from the catalogues at primary school but since then it's been up to me. so i pretty much only buy em if they're really cheap or set texts or i totally adore them.
