It’s been a long time coming.
I bought
FUR FACE by
jongibbs a while back, but was never able to finish reading it because my ereader died. When he found out, Jon was kind enough to send me the .pdf so I could finish the book. I finished reading it in December, I think. I’d like to make all kinds of excuses as to why I haven’t commented on it, but in truth, I think the blame is laziness :(
I loved FUR FACE. I found it very witty and refreshing. And, I know this sounds silly, but I really enjoyed the fact that the book was not American. Let me explain because I know that makes much more since in my head than yours. For those of you that don’t know Jon, he is English (nothing wrong with that) and he lives in New Jersey (nothing wrong with that either, they have a kick-ass writing group up there). So, the book is full of expressions and different ways of phrasing things that I thought was wonderful - that’s the refreshing and witty part.
Jon creates very believable characters easy to identify with it. Many of the characters in the book are animals more human than some of the humans. I found myself rooting and cheering, hoping and sighing over the different goings on . . .
. . . I keep deleting sentences. I want to talk about the book and my favorite parts, but I don’t want to give things away for those of you who haven’t read it yet. Let’s just say, much of it made me laugh, at one point I really wanted to cry, and the ending made me happy in more ways than one.
Go read it so we can talk about it!
