Welcome to our little OOCT party! Let's have a little get-to-know-you post.

Hi! I'm Sage. china_shop is trapped under something heavy (her WIP!!), so I'm hosting this party along with this group of lovely DS fen. Please say hi to eledhwenlin, lamentables, and monroe_nell! :D

Back in December 2005 the fabulous ds_recs community hosted a fandom social that many of us remember fondly, so I'm ( Read more... )

Hi, I’m Clio, not really promoting myself so much as trying to shift back into writer/participant versus lurker, which I’ve mostly been for a long while now.

I’m a huge film person (as in filmfest fanatic kind of huge) And, in general lets just say I’m a popular culture junkie. Film, TV, blogosphere, sports, etc, I’m easily fascinated by too much lately. Fandom-wise, my heart belongs mostly to all things Canadian (whether Canadian produced or just made in CA) with a side helping of Brit TV.

Likes/Dislikes/Fandoms I Like - I lumped these together because I don’t really have a good way to answer this, except that I tend to follow writers and writing trends/styles/themes more often than a specific fandom…although having said that, I do tend to hang out in the slash/R to NC-17/RP end of the pool more often than not when I’m reading. With writing, I have to hear a voice, and I have to have a goal in the writing itself in order to get the damn thing out of me - so it’s all about the challenges for me, lately.

What do you talk about in your LJ? Well again, I’m trying to get back to talking more, period, whatever the topic - but it’s usually about films or books I’ve read, things that strike me funny, stuff I’ve written, etc

A link I’d like to pimp: Okay, I check this guy every day - he’s an American-born Canadian TV writer with a fantastic blogroll:
Dead Things ON Sticks

My favorite line of a song/book/movie/fanfic/quotation: Pretty anyting from Young Frankenstein: “Sedagive?!” “There, I’ve touched my food!” “Taffeta, darling.”

If I could live anywhere in the world, and be doing anything I wanted, and living with whomever I pleased, I would be: I’m just glad I already have one of the three, living in Boston, a city I love!

My junk food of choice is: those addictive lime-flavored Tostito thingies.

I'm really proud of this story that I wrote: (and give us a link!) This is ages old, from my first fandom obsession, Oz - it’s long, and completely AU now, since it was written after the first half of the 4th season, when we had to wait damn near a year for the next part, and I decided I would write what I thought Episode 33 should be…posted in 8 parts, back in the days of yahoogroups, good god! it's a moldy oldy is what I'm saying, but I still love it to pieces After the Fall

Yeesh - nevermind the depressing Oz link, here's what I should have linked, as a sort of companion piece to my boxathon entry. This one was for ds_flashfiction, for the curtainfic challenge, but I missed the deadline: DisJunctures

I’m a huge film person...

Oh, I totally get that. I worked at a video store for six years...if you didn't love film before, you certainly will afterwards...*g*

six years, wow - what was your favorite left-field film to rec to customers?

I had a bunch. Orlando. Hard Core Logo. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Adventures Of Buckaroo Banzai. Tremors. Big Trouble In Little China. Brazil. Chungking Express. Free Enterprise. Ran. Six String Samurai...

I could go on and on...*g* This is why the question "What's your favorite movie?" just doesn't work for me...

What films have you seen recently that you wouldn't recommend other people see?

Some of my usual ones to rec were Housekeeping and Truly Madly Deeply. As for recent films I wouldn't rec - hmm, I can say the last one I saw that I really HATED was Operation: Filmmaker, mostly because I despised the filmmaker's attitude (she's as much a part of the doc as her subject). The last film I saw that I loved was Guy Maddin's My Winnipeg.

Oh, you're a real art house movie person. Me, I'm just a cheesy-cult-movie-foreign-flick-wow-that's-a-cool-martial-arts-film kind of movie watcher. *g*

I swing from one extreme to the next - the last two movies I saw were Son of Rambow and Indiana Jones 4! So I'm totally useless to my friends, who keep expecting me to tell them what the latest Little Miss Sunshine, big indie, flick is!
