Modest hedonism: Lesley Gore sings Wonder Boy
I can't believe I haven't seen this before!
Musically, Wonder Boy doesn't compare to Lesley Gore's other songs of the era in terms of being either; iconic hits [It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want To], covert Women's Lib vibes[You Don't Own Me] or love song perfection [All Of My Life].
But, this clip pleases me! Lesley's actually animated rather than the beehived clone on a bandstand look for once, with cheesy man fancying.
Question: was this too 60's calculated innocence to be gender ironic?
Also: I love her yellow shell top.
