[5.08] A little soul.

They're the most pathetic bunch of demons to ever have existed, but they're hers and they're all Sam is going to get. That makes them something, or it would if they were starring in an eighty's sports drama. Sadly they're not.

Jude, she thinks sadly, is the most even-keeled of them all. He's also whipped beyond believe. Ruby says jump and he says high how. She knows he loves her more than she loves him, but she would do anything to protect him and that's a kind of love in an of itself, just not what he wants. They both know, however, that she'll never be his. He'll always be hers though.

More often than not she thinks killing Kingsbury would make it better for everyone, but then he does something right and she's forced to change her mind. He's an asset because he has power, more power than he should have, but it can be harnessed and that is why he's standing next to her, fingers pressing casually into her hip. She wants to tell him she's never going to fuck him, in any body, but she bites her tongue. Nicholas looks tired.

He's the only one that can rein King in, Nicholas, and if she didn't know him she would be constantly wondering why. He's so sweet and calm and precious sitting cross-legged on the floor next to William reading quietly aloud from one of the books she'd found for him. He hadn't been able to read when he was human and she loves the way his face lights up when he discovers a new word and flips through the dictionary to look it up. He's soft, naïve for their kind, but his temper is practically legendary and it's unwise to cross him. Ruby loves him for it.

William does too and she can see it in the way he brushes his fingers through Nicholas' blonde hair, brushing it back from his eyes as he listens to his lover read, his eyes on Ruby, but his mind on Nicholas. As much as Ruby is Jude's protector, William is Nicholas'. He's the most powerful of them all, she thinks, so calm it's eerie. He disagrees with her, naturally. He's only calm because he'd rather not fight. But he will.

Julia laughs at something Ruby says and the two girls look at each other before giggling something out at the same time. With her legs dangling off the couch and gum popping in her mouth, she hums a little tune and the sparks shooting from finger to finger dance in time to the song. Ruby's going to have her near Elle, they can play off each other's abilities, Elle shooting lightning at whomever crosses her path and Julia absorbing the residual energy and firing her own little fireworks, pale in comparison but effective all the same.

The two littlest of them are curled up, bruised and tired and tangled up in each other on the other side of the couch. Sassafras and Saffron are the only twin demons she's ever met and it's scary how well they work together, anticipating one another's next move and being there when it happens. They work a lot like Dean and Sam, she notices, and they're about as annoying. But now they're half asleep and she's going to have to have Nicholas carry them back to their hotel room.

The youngest is also the quietest, just shy of a year as a demon. She'd spent a day in Hell, if even, but she'd been tainted by Azazel before her little side trip to the pit. She's the one that could have beat Sam. Little Ava Wilson is second best to the antichrist and she doesn't seem to mind. For being so young she has powers to rival any demon, an offshoot of being one of the yellow eyed douche bag's chosen children. Her little demons will come in handy during the fight.

Gently pushing King aside, Ruby goes to lean against the door frame of her bedroom, watching her additions to Sam's army. She smiles a little, but it slips into a frown as Jude comes up next to her and brushes his fingers across her neck. War has casualties, she knows, but she doesn't want her family to become them.

[OOC: Jude, King, Nicholas, William, Julia, Sassafras and Saffron and Ava.]
