Life has moments hard to describe, feeling great and feeling alive

Ruby gratefully let Ally scoop her smelly child away. Ruby thought they were cute and sweet and adorable. Until they did something gross, at which time they became Ally's and so not hers. Don't get her wrong she'd changed a diaper of two, and a whole bunch pre-demon days, but still. No thank you.

Not long after the baby was handed off like a baton ( Read more... )

He actually tugged her out onto the small balcony. He wanted this to be private. At least to start with. Don't get him wrong, he wouldn't complain if she like the gift enough to wave it in everyones face, but the giving he wanted to be private.

He stood behind her with his arms wrapped around her, and something closed in his right hand. "I was gonna plansome thing nice, but. . .well everything went haywire, and some how this seems like a good, fitting time." It was true. He had been thinking maybe a picnic on the Space Needle or a classy restaraunt. But things had started to go to hell in a hand basket and the rings had been livng in his pocket ever since. Just being changed from on to the next. They had even gone to the funeral with him.

He turned his hand palm up so she could take the small black box sitting there. He'd broken traditon and told the jewler that they could keep their engagment diamands. He wanted rubies.

Ooh, a small black box. Velvet. Oooh, maybe he'd gotten her earrings. She shook it a little and then gently, because they were on a balcony and she didn't want her present to plummet to it's death, she opened it top ( ... )

He smiles so brightly it hurts. "You like them? They wanted me to get diamands but. . ." Okay he's nervous. Give the man a break. "Every woman gets diamands. And you're Ruby and therefor special. I'm babbling." The box had all three rings in it. The engagment ring and the two matching wedding bands. He had spent some time with the engraver to. The scroll work wasn't simply decoration, it was protection charms. Ally had helped him put the partern for it together. So it looks nice instead of just a jumble of runes and such.

"I like rubies better," she said with a nod, slipping them out of the box and into the palm of her hand. Closing her fist around them, she put the box on the railing and turned around in Alec's arms so she was facing him.

"They feel good." She smiled up at him and then cocked her head to the side. "Is it just me or do you feel like you're proposing again? I know we're already married, but it feels different. New."

He smiled at her. He beamed at her. "Then lets to it right." He dropped to one knee in front of her and held out his hand for the rings.

Okay, this was so much better than another puppy. Or a back rub. This was a real live proposal that no one was going to interrupt or ruin. This was just Ruby and Alec and nothing anyone could say or do was going to trump it. And if it did she'd just have to kill them.

She slipped the rings into his hand and tried not to freakin' bounce up and down with all her excitement.

He took them with his right hand and held he left with the other. "Will you marry me? Again." He knew she'd say yes. Of course she'd say yes. But there is still a little sliver of doubt. And that's what made it good. What made it real. Her saying yes is made so much better by knowing she could say no.

Ruby nodded quickly, grinning like an idiot. She'd momentarily thought of saying no, but her head started saying yes before she could stop it and that was rather rude and pressumtuous of it. Maybe her head knew the Doctor. "Yes please."

Could his smile get any brighter or wider? Yeah, totally. "Thank you." Because, seriously. She just agreed to marry him. A person should be thankful for things like that. He carefully slid both rings onto her finger and then kissed her hand.

Oh, he was all the way down there and she didn't like that. Though she liked the way her skin crackled with energy when the rings went on. Those runes were amazing. Regardless, she kneeled down in front of him, on both knees because she still had her little mini dress on because she hadn't changed in to her pyjamas yet (aka Alec's pyjamas) and while she didn't think he mind being flashed, it was cold out. So both knees hit the cement.

She took the other ring out of his hand and well, goofy smile would be the only way to describe it. "What about you? Will you marry me? Again?"

"I would love to." He may have had a more chick-flickish moment in his life, but never one he's enjoyed as much as this. How many people got the joy of having their wife propose to them. He even started purring. Just a little. Just tiny manly purring.

Ruby copied his motion and put the ring on his finger, but forwent the hand kissing, because she wanted to keep that for herself. "Well that's good, seeing as we already did the married thing. It would be awkward if you said no. Plus, then I'd have to kill you and you're so pretty, it would be sad."

She pouted at him to prove just how sad it would be and scooted forward, which wasn't the best bet with bare knees on cold cement and ow. "Kiss please."

He shivered a little, as the ring slid on. He had learned enough about magic that he knew the runes had real power. And the rings had felt nearly alive when he held them, but it was differnt than wearing it. It was kinda like. . .standing in front of a blowdrier when you were freezing. "You'd miss my cute freckles." He moved forward to cover the rest of the distance and save her knees. He laced the fingers of his left hand with hers and slide his other through her hair and pulled her into a slow deep kiss. Buttercup? Move over sweetheart.

Ruby had some sort of comeback ready for the freckles comment but that failed because there was kissing and she wasn't going to interrupt the kissing to tell him that it wasn't his freckles that kept her around. He could just figure that out on his own. And really, with all that magic floating around them with the kissing well... when she pulled back six minutes later her eyes had sort of glazed over and her free hand had fisted on his shirt and ... "Wow."

He was dazed, but sure as hell not confused. He took a deep breath. "That? That was amazing." He rested his forhead against her and just watched her for a long moment. Breathing in her scent. For once in his life, right in that moment, everything was good. He was happy, safe, loved, and cared for. He wanted to giggle.

"Mmm, yup," she agreed quietly. He was right there, she didn't need to speak up.

She tilted her head a little and looked up at him. "Alec? Why me?" She'd said, ages ago, that she'd never ask, but she couldn't help it. It was just there.

She couldn't help it! Magic made her all lacking with the inhibitions.
