What I read
Finished A Lady and Her Husband and was very prepossessed. Among other things, because her husband, though he had his faults, was not an out and out villain, and having encountered a number of late C20th 'coming up to middle-aged woman finds herself' narratives in which the husband is a sleaze with a side-piece, intending to shaft her financially in the divorce if he gets his way, and very likely involved in criminal activities, that was refreshing. Also she did not need Another Man as White Knight. This - a woman slowly and hesitantly coming to realise that she does have a certain agency and using it - is much more 'strong woman character' than some of the travesties that get thus deemed.
Then read my way through the first five volumes of The Queen's Thief (the omnibus ebook edition with additional bits). Had forgotten quite how long ago the first one was and how slowly they appeared and how much I had forgotten between books....
On the go
Alexis Hall, Smoke and Ashes (Kate Kane, Paranormal Investigator #4).
Up next
Stephanie Burgis, Frostgilded (The Harwood Spellbook #3) arrived today, the latest Slightly Foxed recently turned up, and according to Blackwells, the last Jane Haddam is in the post...
