Museum goes meta
Not for the first time: I see it is only somewhat over a year ago that I posted about the staff at the New York City Tenement Museum unionising -
- and I noted today that they have not ceased from, what is not so much doing Ye Quainte Lyvynge Hystorye but carrying forward the struggle because it's not over, comrades:
Twitter thread from the Tenement Museum Union about the layoffs of staff due to Covid, responding to a press release on the subject: The article refers to us as “tour guides.” We’re educators.
[C]omparing the struggles of the Museum’s wealthy board and bosses to that of working class immigrants is both laughable and despicable.
If anyone is interested in publishing the real story, come to the union. Come to the professional storytellers. We’ve got a lot of time on our hands.
