We are honestly surprised that there has not yet been any suggestion of bleeding, possibly by means of the deployment of leeches to get rid of the 'bad blood'.

One is alas reminded of discoveries which did, in fact, cure or alleviate a Particular Thing (e.g. cinchona for malaria) that turned into Ye Panacea.
Yes, sunlight is good, though we are not sure that it was the sunlight rather than the unpolluted air, rest, and decent feeding in early C20th TB sanatoria that turned the trick: however it does have a discernable effect on conditions due to Vitamin D deficiency. It is more about bringing about a condition of health than a cure, though.
I think of all the products in the early C20th which bandwagoned on magic 'Radium' in their brand-names. (They probably, at least I hope, did not include any radioactive substance: I seem to recollect that radium was in fact v expensive and obtaining supplies for legit medical/research purposes a convoluted process.)
