Suspect I may have pulled the 'Don't You Know Who I Am?' card
At the beginning of this week discovered that there is a conference/symposium/workshop taking place this Friday in London on a subject v pertinent to my research interests about which I had heard nothing.
Contact the contact email on the website.
Silence.
Email two academic acquaintances who are contributors saying what gives, is it an open or a closed event?
Sounds like a small invite-only do. They will contact organiser to say 'Invite Dr Oursin!!!'
Hear back from organiser, it is full up, they will let me know if a place becomes vacant.
Very shortly afterwards I heard from the organiser that a place is available.
Somehow I do not think that this is Entirely A Coincidence.
