What I read
Finished Scales of Gold.
Change of pace, light relief: read Zoe Chant, Defender Cave Bear (2019) - begins a spin-off series from the Protection Inc, series: Protection Inc: Defenders): fun; and Robin Stevens, Top Marks for Murder: Murder Most Unladylike #8 (2019), and may I register an irk that Kobo falls down on recommending me things in series of which I have already purchased all the foregoing? I only discovered this on account of
white_hart reviewing it. While randomly recommending books well into series I have never ventured into. Anyway, that said, v good, the dynamics of the Daisy/Hazel relationship - and their relationship with their dorm-mates - are still shifting.
On the go
On to The Unicorn Hunt (1993). Query: do we think that the depiction of Bel as a relatively stout figure with a sound moral compass really balances out the raging fat-phobic depiction of villainous Jordan de Riberac, who is up there with Baron Harkonnen in Dune? Also I think Henry is actually the spawn of the devil.
Have at least temporarily given up on The House of Sundering Flames as not enough of a change of pace.
Have started AJ Demas, Something Human (2018).
Up next
To Lie with Lions, I guess.

And I am about to grass up this guy to the Ponceyness Police:
Gwyneth Paltrow Hired a Personal Book Curator-Here's What He Chose For Her Shelves: Thatcher Wine, celebrity bibliophile, shares his tips on collecting (and decorating) with books.
I think 'bibliophile' there, is the equivalent of the persons who supplied nouveaux riches with books by the yard to fill the shelves in the libraries of their country mansions.
What are three things a person can do to curate their own home library?
First, think about what you are trying to accomplish. Is there a story you are trying to tell? A color palette you want to achieve? Then think about how that might work within the context of your home and available space. Second, acquire the books. Depending on how important the style and binding of the cover is to you, buy them intentionally either at your local bookstore or through online listings. Third, arrange your books in a way that makes you feel comfortable and looks inviting. It may take a few hours to get it just right.
Tonstant weader is over here feeling vewy, vewy ill.
