Am in Durham, where should I be?
Actually, Durham. I am being Reputed Authority in Field at a workshop tomorrow at the university.
I am madly impressed that I got all the papers with several days in hand to read and think about: this is not always the case.
Also I am madly reassured to discover that college accommodation is spacious and ensuite, even if - and I have found this with hotels I was paying serious moolah for - nowhere to put one's stuff in the bathroom.
Also - this was also the case in Birmingham the other week - some church or other clock chiming at intervals, I hope it does not keep it up all night like what the Cathedral in Amalfi did - plus the breakfast facilities are in another building.
This is one of the C19th colleges, but I'm not sure if this bit is actually ye olde or repro.
In other travel grumbles, I rather expected the LNER carriages to have more luggage racks along their length for those of us who do not wish (or find it difficult) to put our cases in the overhead racks.
