What I read
Finished The Favourite: query, was not Sarah Churchill, Duchess of Marlborough, an early victim of Streisand Syndrome? Her extremely vigorous attempts to control the narrative about herself by writing or causing memoirs to be written do not seem to have had the effect she intended but quite the reverse: although one must take into account the contemporary misogynist hostility towards a woman who wielded such power and influence that she was fighting back against. All in all, however, she does not come over as a sympathetic character (she was really horrid to a lot of people, even if she was also charitable to others).
Re-read of Peter Dickinson's Hindsight (1983) - because I'd recalled bits of it but not all it - had forgotten the whole meta-fictional angle.
Otherwise, due to travel angst and stress of travel, rather a lot of comfort rereading.
On the go
Still not quite feeling in the right frame of mind for By Demons Possessed
And Hamlet's Mother and other women.
Up next
Not sure there will be much reading over the next few days y/n?
