Wednesday has watered the lawn (it will probably rain now)

What I read
Finished Someone Like Me which somehow I did not get on with as well as the other Careys I've read: possibly it's in that genre of 'psychological thriller/horror' that is just not my thing. Well-written, etc, but not quite my thing.
More Delafield short stories, the play, To See Ourselves: A Domestic Comedy in Three Acts (1930), which was apparently quite a success in its day (it has stock Delafield stodgy husband and wistful wife, mild romantic complications, but her novels are much better), and General Impressions (1933) - humorous articles originally published in Time and Tide, possibly more amusing then?
Lara Elena Donnelly, Amberlough (2017) - took me some time to get into, and I'm still feeling a bit vague on the general geopolitical background, but I have gone on to download the next volume in the sequence, so -
Simon R Green, Into the Thinnest of Air (2018) - may be subtitled 'A paranormal country house murder mystery' (actually it's a country pub) - but one should be attentive to the apparently satirical invocation at one point by one character of Scooby-Doo.
On the go
Lara Elena Donnelly, Armistice (The Amberlough Dossier no 2) (2018).
Still dipping into the Noel Coward letters.
Up next
Well, we finally have the next episode of Tremontaine season 4. And there is a new Ben Aaronovitch allegedly due tomorrow... This entry was originally posted at https://oursin.dreamwidth.org/2844798.html. Please comment there using OpenID. View
