I like the idea of 'fruitful monotony'

Article about the value of boredom for children during school holidays
Am of the opinion that, if not actual boredom, a certain amount of days that are quiet and routine and even monotonous can be a very good thing for the grown person, as well.
And on the matter of over-scheduling stuff, I was pretty much aaaaargh at this:
Want to Be Happier? Science Says Do These 11 Things Every Single Day -
- which sort of made me think, before reading it, 'spend your time putting these into you must-do list for every day and you won't have time to reflect upon your existential angst'*!
And some of them, like 'go outside every day', are rather dependent on certain climatic circumstances. And some of them, well, also maybe not according to individual circumstance (e.g. spending time with family).
Okay, the 'growing older' thing, pretty much happens without having to take thought.
But I am a grumpy it's-all-more-complicated hedjog.
*Does anyone ever suggest dropping stuff out of your daily practices? - feel I have seen at least 'don't guilt yourself about exercise'. This entry was originally posted at http://oursin.dreamwidth.org/2460820.html. Please comment there using OpenID. View
