I don't think my life has been all that exciting...

1. Climbed up to the head of one of the (now destroyed) Buddhas of Bamiyan.
2. Shared a joint under the full moon in the courtyard of a hotel on Chicken Street, Kabul.
3. Been through Gundagai - ?sp? (past the statue of the dog and the tucker-box).
4. Written an article on necrophilia.
5. Been knocked down by a moped, in broad daylight, on a pedestrian crossing, with the lights in my favour, in Amsterdam.
6. Held up at passport control in Cyprus because the person I was supposed to be staying with hadn't given me an adequate or at least acceptable address for where I would be staying - and although they were supposed to be meeting me, had gone outside for a smoke and couldn't hear the tannoy asking for them to come to the desk.
7. Once met a member of Black Sabbath (way back before they got well-known), who was trying to chat up my best friend.
8. Had a letter published in The Times Literary Supplement.
9. Captained a team on University Challenge.
10. Read the original of Sir Richard Burton's military record: as I recall, every 6 months it was 'passed the translator's exam in [yet another language]' (the stews of Sind were not mentioned).
