Text yesterday from brother in law to say that they were just waiting on an ambulance to take 93-year-old father to hospital - chest infection with effects on the heart.
Later info that ambulance had come and they had gone with him, he was being given oxygen, antibiotics, etc, and they would send further info on situation.
Hadn't heard anything further by bedtime and indeed not until late morning today.
Though the news was good, i.e. he was off oxygen, and in as reasonably good shape as one could expect given age, chest infection and the general disruptions of being taken into hospital.
So anyway, I managed to visit this p.m. - no thanks to the SouthEastern Rail website, which has allegedly been upgraded, was maddeningly slow and then would not actually let me book a ticket in advance: fortunately there were no queues at the machines on the station as I arrived there with about 10 minutes before the next train was due to depart.
Sister and brother in law picked me up in car at the station and indeed my father looked a good deal better (sitting up in chair, even if still connected up to various tubing) than the initial reports had suggested I might find.
But no idea what will happen next: he is currently in what is known as a Clinical Decision Unit, which is meant to be a temporary thing while they assess him and decide what next.
All the same, a yay for the NHS.
