Dee Crystal update: this has been recovered, an arrest made, and a man charged, just before Christmas. This has not been extensively reported - two sentences in an article in the Independent about the recent thefts from the V&A. Presumably because the crystal and documentation are now evidence, they are not yet back on display. The thief is said to have been someone with a Dee obsession working alone (but I bet the Rosicrucians/Templars/whoever would make sure they said that, wouldn't they?).`

Annoying things publishers do. Suggest that, having just produced a book containing material by nearly 100 women, of many of whom there are surviving images, you have on the cover an image of 2 famous feminists who are not among them.

Annoying things people do on websites. Create a string of links based on a Google or other search-engine hit-list, without checking to make sure they actually relate to the subject. Because I use the term 'borderline' (between two scholarly subdisciplines, in context) on my site, it has been linked from someone's page on 'Borderline Personality Disorder' (do I have confidence in their site? no).

So much for any NY resolutions pertaining to sweetness and light and not channelling my Inner Crabby Old Bat.

PS and is anyone else finding that even when they hit 'Preview' entries post immediately?

annoyance, dee crystal, crabbiness, editors
