Saw Mr Turner last night.
How many of the audience would have known that that slightly dotty lady who visits Turner to do experiment with prism was Mary Somerville, who even in that day was considered SRS BZNZ as natural philosopher?
(Even if these days has a good deal less name-recognition than A Lovelace, or Caroline Herschel, who seems to be having A Moment, either because of comet or because somebody has novel about her coming out. Somerville College was named after her, we wonder how many people realise.)
