The Knowledge:
25,000 streets and 20,000 landmarks and places of interest in the six mile radius of Charing Cross, stashed in the memories of licensed black cab drivers. (As they are still known, although it is many years since all licensed London taxis were black.)
It changes their brayynnnzzz!
According to a survey undertaken by the we are not sure how entirely neutral they are LondonCabs Co, London Taxis Voted Best In The World, Again (even though also the most expensive...)
I cannot but believe that this is because they know where they are going, rather than their friendly demeanour. I would back a taxi driver with the Knowledge against somebody using a GPS in Central London, any day.
