Thoughts towards posts that may or may not happen at greater length

Because the Berks is about to start and I'm not sure how much time and spare energy I'll have for turning any of these into any more coherent and thought-through posts.

Class in sff. How very basic is usually is. May get some kind of nuance of hierarchieis within court-type spaces but only within that limited group. In rural-ish settings, peasants - not usually much sense of gradations? In urban settings, 'the poor' all tend to be semi-criminal underclass - seldom get respectable working/lower middle class, or even struggling middle-middle class. (There are exceptions to these generalisations, but these patterns seem fairly ubiquitous.)

Being WTF about UK female sf writer who is self-declaredly a feminist and one of my own generation, pretty much, who has an extraordinarily narrow concept of what 'feminist sff' is about, so doesn't think she writes it. (And o dear, yes, there has been a, pretty much forgotten, tradition of UK women writers of sff from a fairly feminist perspective.)

Doin' the seated bop on the bus yesterday. This involves doing hand-jivey, shoulder-wriggling things, and hoping anyone who might be watching (the bus was fairly empty) thinks it is physio exercises. This means eschewing waving hands over head.

WTF pharmacist who seemed to think that my cold-related (i.e., viral) eye inflammation was pink-eye and I should get antibiotics prescribed, and declared it contagious - so contagious that she appeared to fear I might give it to her at a distance of several yards across a counter. I got some OTC antiseptic drops and it is, in fact, clearing up.
