Saturday breakfast rolls: soft brown maple raisin: the
basic soft white roll recipe, with half and half wholemeal and strong white flour, a little maple syrup dissolved in the milk and water mixture, and raisins.
Today's lunch: halibut steaks marinated in lemon and lime juice with avocado and toasted sesame oil, minced ginger and Tabasco, smoked over hickory chips, served with stirfried samphire (with garlic and star anise) and a salad of piccolo vine tomatoes, halved, and tossed in a little salt, a little sugar, a splash of wild pomegranate vinegar, and some minced green coriander (cilantro). I also made some glutinous rice which was for some reason a disaster - remained gritty. Need to reconsider the method perhaps with this particular batch.
This week's bread: made a
Standen loaf, very nice.
