(I'm back. The journey was long but bearable, and I even managed to sleep a bit on the plane.)
There were lots of lovely things about Wiscon for me this year (and as someone - ?

damned_colonial? - was remarking, there are many different Wiscons happening simultaneously). There were some great panels and other conversations, as well as *elephant necklace* and books.
I missed so many people who weren't there, even though I didn't even manage to meet some of the people who were there whom I was hoping to, and others with whom my interactions were pretty much confined to saying 'Hi' as we passed, possibly adding 'Having a good con?'.
But there were precious times of being with other individuals and having Chloe/Olivia moments.
Partly, of course, these were about intellectual sympathy and connection, but there was also a deep strand of the exchanges being about liking one another and enjoying one another's company. And perhaps the conversations, however serious and intelligent and so on, were to a significant degree also primate mutual grooming interactions.
Whatever, this was a good thing.
