On Friday, we caught up with some of E's work mates and had dinner at the Turkish Pide House Restaurant at the Woden Shopping Centre. The waitress who served us recommended that we choose one of the banquets, as "there are 4 guys on the table and you would no doubt be able to eat them".. Totally "outcasting" me as the only girl, who surely cannot out-eat the boys! I'll show him! :P Well, because we were lazy and quite hungry, E, 1 of the guys, and myself went with the banquet, while the others had a Vegetarian pide pizza and a Kebab meal.
For entree, we were given 4 different dips (a beetroot one, hommus, a carrot one, and an unidentified one), a basket of warm yummy yummy bread, and some Kabak Mucveri (Grated zucchini, mixed with fresh herbs and deep fried, served with yogurt sauce). While the dips and bread didnt disappoint (we gorged ourselves on them before realising that we have a few more dishes coming still), the Kabak Mucveri was soooo good! It was almost like a savoury fried donuts! so yum! :P
For main, we had a chicken pide pizza, which E liked, a mixed platter of meat, some rice and a bowl of salad. The rice was scarily good, it was savoury with pine nuts stirred through, and went really well with the lamb kebab. The beef mince patty that came with yoghurt was also nice, although the chicken breast was rather boring. The salad was also blah, although we did eat some to even up the amount of meat and bread we were eating.
The place itself was nice and clean, it was almost full when we got there, and the waitresses was friendly, although they could be a little more attentive. What amazed me though was their uniform! They look like they were bought from Herringbone, and fitted so well on them! Amazing! I probably wouldnt go to the Turkish Pide House restaurant again, only because there are other places that I want to try first. Although they did have nice meals, none of them actually impressed me that much.
Oh, when we were finished with the banquet, feeling rather full and almost exploded, John (one of the other guys) said that he was just soooooo full and then proceeded to call me a "beast" for being able to eat like one of the boys! lol I wasnt sure if I was supposed to be proud or ashamed! I'm going to take it as a compliment I think... :)
