Rex Lewis ==> stopthat_destro

Rex is Capa’s newest inmate, though it was something he never really thought that he would have to deal with. He used to view Rex as the mad scientist type because, unlike the majority of the barge, Capa viewed him as an intellectual equal. They were scientists but, for some reason, Rex was a scientist gone wrong and Capa was very wary of that. He was untouched during his first display of nanomites, but, since that happened, he’s tried to maintain a very healthy distance between himself and Rex.

Floods have brought them together in random encounters, but he has mostly kept his distance. Ever since he started becoming closer friends with Arthur, he’s tried to pull more away from Rex, simply because it was always so very awkward to talk to him and not think about his face twin.

However, now that they are paired up, Capa has given serious thought to the way things are with Rex. He cares more about his science and the way he conducts himself that way than he does about other aspects of Rex’s redemption- which have seemed to been addressed by previous wardens. So Capa still tries to maintain a professional distance, but he knows that it’s virtually impossible right now.

Arthur ==> paradoxlol

Thought they met for purely professional reasons, Capa was luckily able to see him as something more than some new age librarian dreamer. Capa soon became involved with the PASIV and what needed to be done to monitor it and Arthur even let him experience it twice. The first time, Arthur was introduced to Mace, who almost killed the two of them. The second time, Capa dreamed up an outside landscape with fireworks and a very structured city park.

Their relationship only continued to flourish as time went on. Capa helped him after an attack by his inmate- Arthur was dying and wanted a quick way out and Capa helped him. They shared a kiss and more after, but they never really made it out of the friends with benefits stage since then. Not that either of them are trying hard to do so. Capa likes it just the way that it is. No strings but Arthur still as a friend.

He stayed mostly ignorant of Arthur’s past deeds until an incident on the barge made Arthur lose his grip on reality. He was convinced that he was in a dream and, after attacking others, went after Capa and put a gun to his head. He wanted to wake him up, thinking that he was Fischer. Perry saved him, thankfully. After, Arthur told Capa the truth about the PASIV and what he had done. Capa doesn’t think any less of him for it, but doesn’t like to discuss it most of the time.

Jonathan Crane ==> doctor_j_crane

Over time, Capa has come to have a grudging respect for Crane. He still considers the man to be a little on the insane side, but spending time as his brother (and sister) in ports has made him closer to the other man than he would have originally thought.

He works with Crane in the lab occasionally, but only for the smallest things. He doesn’t really want to get too close to him scientifically, as that would run some pretty nasty risks. He still feels a sense of responsibility towards him, both because of his relationship with Hayley as well as the strange and unusual friendship that they have created between each other. So, when Crane loses his wardens, Capa instantly feels like he needs to watch over him, even if that is in a way that is strictly unofficial or even unknown to Crane.

Alice ==> likedarkmatter

Alice is a complicated relationship with Capa. He sees her as a colleague. Someone who understands his work better than anyone else could. He doesn’t know or care why she’s an inmate, as she really just seems like a scientist to him. He had a very puffed up view of her, simply because of her intellectual prowess. She’s the one who convinced him that it was perfectly alright to retreat into that emotionless state that he had come to rely on so much. She was the one who convinced him that he wasn’t the only one who was like that.

However, there is the very tricky situation of his attraction towards her. He doesn’t really know if he is or not, but it doesn’t really interfere with his interactions with her. He enjoys her company and seeks it out whenever he can, just so that he can continue to remind himself that he’s not really alone in all of this.

Trip Tucker ==> inhistorybooks

Trip is one of those people who Capa can’t really stop paying attention to. He’s smart, funny and is a nerd without being nerdy. At least in Capa’s head. He’s someone Capa goes to when he needs to feel like a “normal” human being for a while, even if he’s not actually normal. They can talk about space and they can talk about planets and science and anything else without it getting boring and that, in Capa’s book, is a good friendship. It’s one that he actively tries to keep going.

Kay ==> most_feared

While they don’t talk much right now, K seems to sort of understand Capa. He has let him see the galaxy in a marble and has let him play with all sorts of gadgets when Capa seemed to need a boost. He appreciates the small talks that they’ve had and he’s never really hesitated to open up a bit more to him than he would to most other acquaintances.

Una Persson ==> mrs-persson

They’ve talked once or twice about time and while Capa is fascinated by her stories, he still doesn’t understand exactly how it all works. He is curious about it, about her, but not enough that he would break out of his antisocial little science corner to talk to her. She’s classy and sophisticated…something Capa doesn’t really understand in anyone- not even Arthur. So he keeps his professional distance.

Chromie ==> strangehstorian

Chromie is another one who Capa talks about time with. He doesn’t really understand a lot of what she says, but he chalks it up to her being from a different universe, honestly. And she doesn’t really understand the different universe idea yet. He does find her fascinating to talk to, though, and she doesn’t patronize him like the rest of the barge sometimes does when he talks about science. At least she can keep up with him.

People who have Left

Hayley Stark ==> victimofnoone

Hayley was the first person to offer Capa a tour of the ship. They really had nothing in common to begin with, but after a while, that started to change. She expressed interest in his work and became his lab partner. But she was more than that. She kept him organized, took care of him and generally made him feel accepted when his own inmate began to go silent. Then, when he became friends with Harper, she took offense to that and his attitude towards her. After a rather nasty fight, in which she was the first person to break his emotional wall, she left.

She became his inmate shortly after that, which both of them protested, but it ultimately lasted for several months. During that time, she continued to try and get Capa to open up while he continued to try and get her to see things logically. It was an issue that they constantly fought over, but it was one that they couldn’t really come to any agreement on. She needed something from him that he couldn’t really give her and, after a few months passed, he started to realize that. While things were good, though, he was happy with her. They went on walks in the CES. He told her about his past and even showed her what his last few weeks had been like. There were a lot of things that he didn’t share with her, but he was close to her and revealed everything that seemed appropriate.

He was fiercely loyal to her most of the time and when her father came, the first thing he did was punch him in the face. Capa had never actually stood up for any one person before in that way, with the exception of Cassie, so it was something very new and different to him. Something that he started to like. But things went downhill towards the end. They ended up fighting about personal choices that she had made and when he said something a little challenging, she took offense, which was nothing something that he anticipated. They could not really rectify that. They parted on not so good terms, though they had seemed to come to a small truce for a while. Capa does miss her, but his view of death is very skewed and so he’s grieving in the only way he knows how.

Seamus Harper ==> deusexmechanic

Harper was one of the first ones who came to understand him. And Capa just enjoyed his company. He's intelligent as well as witty and outgoing, something that Capa has always admired in people. They stayed strong friends for a while, having “rendezvous” in the engine room for the enjoyment of the rest of the barge. They even descended into the depths of the barge, trying to save it. That didn’t end well for either of them, but it was something that needed to be done

As time went on, Capa and Harper withdrew from each other slightly, never really getting back to the way that they had been. He was sad to see him go when he finally did, but Capa knew it was a decision he had to go through with.

Donny Donowitz ==> actuallyagolem

Being stuck to a person for twenty four hours really has an effect. Donny and Capa would probably never have talked to each other if it wasn't for that flood.  As it is, while they're weren’t friends, Capa didn't disapprove of his company, either. He became more interested in baseball because of him, at least. And even though Donny’s gone, it’s not as if Capa has forgotten him.

Adric ==> alzarian_youth

Adric was someone Capa could really talk to. He might have been young, but Capa respected him for his mathematical knowledge and his scientific mind. He always came off as a little arrogant, which was off putting to Capa, but he understood also that the boy had come from a place where what Capa could do was considered children’s play. And that he really wasn’t all that impressive. So he eventually got used to it and got used to Adric’s ways.
