I've only known one pilot who didn't fit the stereotype I found myself embodying this past weekend.

And then there's this nonsense going around.

[Private to Crane]

Once you're out of the infirmary, you're going to spend your time either in the lab or in your room unless you have permission from me.

[Private to Harper]

Need some company?

The diagram wasn't enough?

Surely you understand that a picture and diagram don't compare to the real thing. If it's a problem, I understand. I'd just rather know as much as I can going into this.

I have only your word to go off of, after all.

It's not a problem. You were going to see it sooner or later. Just don't tamper with it.

I have no reason to touch it. I just want to see it.

[His love of machinery. FEEL IT.]

[HE FEELS IT SO HARD.]

Well, my schedule's all clear until I have another inmate, so...

A life without an inmate...it's what I've been going through for almost a month and a half.

Tomorrow?

I took Crane just to keep myself occupied. And to keep him from doing something stupid.

Where?

My room. Level 6, Room 5.

[And so he was there the next morning, after breakfast, looking exhausted but no more than usual. Two knocks and he stepped back to wait.]

[Arthur looked out the peephole, like a paranoid creep, then opened the door to Capa.]

Capa.

[He moved aside to let the scientist in, ready to lock the door behind him.]

[Capa stepped inside, his hands in his pockets, and gave Arthur a quick nod.]

I was afraid I wouldn't catch you in. Thank you for this, by the way.

Well, I don't have anywhere else to be. [Since Mindy left, Arthur devoted most of his time to drawing up plans for the extraction. It's a simple, straightforward job, really, but since he's doing this on his own, and he's really not the master planner or an architect, it's taking a bit longer than expected.] And it's not a problem.

[He walked over to his desk, where the briefcase was already laid out in preparation for Capa's arrival. He opened it up, getting right down to business, and turned the case so that the scientist could get a better view.] This is it. The PASIV. [He glanced at Capa.] Do you want to take another look at the manual?

[Capa gave him a confused sort of look. He had memorized most of it with his first few glances through it. All the important things he had committed to memory...the rest could be worked out later.

With his hands shoved in his pockets, he peered over to the case and tilted his head to the side as he studied it. When he spoke, he was clearly distracted by his own thoughts.]

No. Why?
