[He shrugged.] That's to be expected. Tell me what happened? [He phrased it as a question, as he wasn't even sure if Rex wanted to bring it up. Capa was pretty good about being mostly hands off when it came to things like this, but he really did care about it.]

Buffy publicly admitted that Hoffman raped her in a port or breach-- only it wasn't really Hoffman, and it wasn't really her. I called him out, and so he responded by threatening me. When I went to take a shower, he cornered me, tried to scare an apology out of me. I felt threatened... especially considering what happened to me in the showers before. When he got too close to me, I panicked and hit him. [Most of this was true... to a point.]

[Capa flinched a bit. He didn't like situations like that. They made him uncomfortable and he was now constantly worried that he would say the wrong thing by being insensitive. So he went cautiously down that path.]

You called him out? What did you say? [He could forgive the paranoia and the lashing out. But he really wanted to hear what Hoffman had to say, too. Rex could be a skillful liar.]

[Rex shrugged, then pulled out his communicator. No point in lying about public information.]

Here. It's public. [ BAM.] I didn't go into that conversation knowing the situation. If I had, I would've avoided it.

[Well, this just proved to Capa that he needed to keep a closer eye on Rex, apparently. He didn't like that, though. He didn't like any of this "proper" wardening business. No expression showed on his face as he gave it back.]

That was handled pretty poorly on both sides.

I didn't do anything wrong. I teased him, and he overreacted. I don't have any sympathy to spare for people like him.

You teased him about something that personal. And you don't consider that wrong? [He finally did sit down and lean forward.]

I teased him about being too unappealing to interest anyone. Not about the rest. He escalated, so I simply brought out the plain fact that, as a rapist, he has no room to talk.
