I never understand how anything in those worlds work. I used to think that science was unchanging. At least the concrete details. Avogadro’s number, vacuum permeability, the lift equation. Those are all very real and set in facts. But these ports seem to bend those numbers and equations in nonstandard ways. Making it look like magic. [Because he will never believe in that nonsense called magic.]

It happens here, too. Just outside on the deck, you can see it. You can feel its effects when you open the doors and nothing happens. In cabins that are bigger on the inside than they logically should be. I think I've been here too long. I've started to accept these variations as simply "barge physics." Which isn't very scientific, but it's more practical than continuing to attempt to make sense of this place using the rules and equations that I know. There must be another force at work here, honestly.

But we all come from different worlds. Some that have what might be called magic. So how is that explained there? Do you find similarities here?

[Private to Rex]

My usual response to these incidents is to carry on as if nothing had happened. As neither of us were hurt. Is that suitable or is there something you wanted to discuss about it.

the stars are my home, science dates are better than real dates, rex, curisoity killed the cat, just a scientist, let's call it research, robots make the best friends, physics is a turn on
