Saw Return of the King Live in Lucerne yesterday - starting at 11AM and finishing around 3PM. I went again with the lovely
shirasade, who kindly let me stay over Saturday night so I didn't have to get up at a completely ridiculous time just to make it to the showing/concert, and my ex coworker who already came with us for The Two Towers Live. It was fantastic as usual, and yes I cried as usual with RotK. There are scenes that are awesome already when you see it on DVD, but omg the lighting of the beacons or the charge of the Rohirrim with live score?! Absolutely breathtaking! And the Grey Havens... *sniff* And... and... and... I could go on endlessly.
No talk with Howard Shore before the concert as it seems he was only there Friday and Saturday, but it was still SO worth going!!!
I was kind of sad thinking that this is the last one, but according to the booklet they're planning to perform "The Lord of the Rings - the Complete Recordings" (i.e. all three films with the score performed live) from 25th March to 3rd April 2011. Wheee! Full details will be announced during the summer. I sure hope that Doug Adam's book "The Music of the Lord of the Rings" will finally be available by then.
Also, a heads up for those of you in the US: The Two Towers Live is scheduled for the Radio City Music Hall in New York on October 8/9, 2010.
