During coffee break I read a review of the book "The Hamilton Case" by Michelle de Kretser in the newspaper - and it not only sounds intrigueing, but its main appeal is that it's taking place in Sri Lanka (aka Ceylon) in the 1930s, so how could I not add it to my Amazon Wishlist?! :D
