Well here it is, at long last... my List of Lust. Sorry it took me so long - besides the reason for
yesterday's rant, for some men It was difficult to find halfway decent pictures, for others it was hard to choose only one! Then there was also the question, with a few, whether they'd go on the main list or under "honourable mentions". Also, I'm not very adequate with words when it comes to describing what I like about these men, so often it's more babbling about where I discovered them. Feel free to ignore the text completely and just enjoy the pictures! ;) I'm sure the list will change again soon anyway, so without further ado, I present to you the momentary status:
Ourdramaqueen's List of Lust
In alphabetical order:
1. Kabir Bedi
I think I can truly say that this was my first crush. Kabir starred in the title role in late 70s/early 80s Italian/British miniseries Sandokan (aka The Tiger of Malaysia, I believe). How could I resist his fiery eyes?!
2. David Carradine
Of course I got to know David as Kwai Chang Caine in Kung Fu. His gentleness and underlying strength were what charmed me.
3. Gary Cole
Ah, what can I say - I learned to like Gary in Midnight Caller, but learned to lust after him in American Gothic. No one beats Lucas Buck's Southern charm. And don't get me started on his soft, silky hair, his tight black jeans, cowboy boots, silk shirts, oh and the duster... *fans self*
4. Richard Grieco
Ironically I never got to see the episodes of 21 Jump Street featuring Richard for some reason, but I did get to see his spinoff, Booker. And I liked the naughty boy! My favourite episode? The one where that psycho is stalking him and he almost goes psycho himself. I'm a sucker for tortured, tainted heroes with a streak of darkness.
5. Daniel Dae Kim
I can proudly say that I've followed Daniel's career since his first big role in the Babylon 5 spinoff, Crusade. His telepathic Lt. John Matheson soon caught my eye and my heart. Besides, who could resist Daniel's gorgeous smile? I'm very proud to see him doing so well on Lost now. (And I really should start a petition for more shirtless Jin...)
6. Marlon Kittel
It seems the older I get, the younger the objects of my desire get... Marlon is two years younger than Elijah, which makes him a decade younger than me. *blush* I blame it all on
germansoulmate because she was the one who recommended German film Sommersturm to me, in which I discovered Marlon. ;) The whole young cast was great, but Marlon caught my eye very quickly, with his expressive eyes.
7. Frank Langella
I first saw Frank in Dracula - ooooooh and what a seductive vampire he made! Age hasn't diminished his charisma at all, and he still seems in pretty good shape for a man over 60!
8. Sean Maher
This one I can squarely blame on
serenitysangel! ;) It was her who kept nagging me to get Firefly on DVD, after all... and if not for that, I wouldn't have fallen in lust with the young doctor who risked all to save his sister. No of course it has nothing to do with the fact that Sean has a gorgeous smile and an incredible body... *cough*
9. Nick Mancuso
Any of you remember a ca. early 90s series called Stingray? Yup, that's where I discovered Nick. I think you can see a theme here with the vaguely Mediterranean looking guys, yes?
10. Neal McDonough
Neal kind of crept up on me when he played the villain - but a very charming one - in the second season of Sammo Hung's series Martial Law. Hey, even Kelly Hu's character who had infiltrated his organization to bring him down fell for him, so how was I to resist? At the moment I enjoy perving on him in Medical Investigation which just started on German TV - dubbed unfortunately, but thank goodness that doesn't prevent me from enjoying the view...
11. Vittorio Mezzogiorno
In Peter Brook's Mahabharata, a miniseries based on his own play, based on the Indian myth of the same name, Vittorio played Arjuna, master archer and one of the seven brothers which the story revolves around. He just has something very... animalistic, yet controlled about him which I like. Sadly he passed away a few years ago from cancer. May he rest in peace.
12. Dominic Monaghan
Well I don't need to say much about this member of my List of Lust, do I? Merry was my second favourite hobbit after Frodo, but it took me a bit longer to really start appreciating the actor who played him. Though they don't show so much in pictures, Dom has amazing eyes - different than Elijah's, but amazing in their own way. Where Elijah is utterly beautiful, Dom oozes sex. And that he has a wicked sense of humour doesn't hurt either.
13. Viggo Mortensen
Viggo is a conundrum, a contradiction in terms. Earnest and respectful on the one hand, he's also silly and outrageous on the other. In pictures he can look haggard or gorgeous. A true Renaissance man, he isn't afraid to say what he thinks, or to do what he pleases, no matter what others think. I'd like to be more like him!
14. Joaquin Phoenix
So I saw him in Gladiator, of course, and I think one or two other things which I can't clearly remember now, but I didn't really start lusting after him until Quills. Intense and hot hot hot - that Abbé could take my confession anytime! And he angsts so prettily, which I always like in an actor too.
15. Michael Praed
Michael will forever be the one and only "true" Robin Hood for me! I loved that Robin of Sherwood included mysticism as well as the more "mundane" tales of Robin and his "merry men". And that Robin was so good looking didn't hurt either... once more it was a certain gentleness about the character that took me in.
16. Mark Ryan
Another man from Robin of Sherwood - Mark played the silent Saracen Nasir. He was originally supposed to be killed in the pilot, but they liked him so much that they kept him on - thank Herne for that! It seems that I have a thing for the silent ones who know how to handle a blade, as I also have a weak spot for James Coburn's character in The Magnificent Seven.
17. Karl Urban
Ah, Eomer... I even liked the blond hair on him! Karl does smouldering very well, and as I could see in The (Irrefutable) Truth About Demons, he has a nice body too! I'd recommend that film to all Karl fanciers as he spends a lot of it topless. ;)
18. Ken Wahl
Ken played the lead, undercover cop Vinnie Terranova, in TV series Wiseguy. Yes, again with the Mediterranean looks... what I particularly liked about him were his gentle eyes. (Yes, another common thing among many men on this list.)
19. Jake Weber
One of the few blonds I perv on. Jake played Dr. Matt Crower on American Gothic - so I have to thank Gary Cole for discovering two members of my List of Lust - Daniel Dae Kim and Jake. :) Again it was the gentle eyes and the smile which captured me, I guess, and Dr. Matt has the tortured, tainted hero quality too.
20. Elijah Wood
Last but not least... The man who could just have climbed out of a Pre-Raphaelite painting, or be a Greek marble statue come to life. What can I say about him that doesn't seem like mindless gushing? Elijah is a very contradictory young man - well-behaved and pleasant, yet also not holding back with his opinion, gentle and yet you can feel a will of steel beneath that gentleness. Tiny but surprisingly strong, intelligent and quick-witted, and a pottymouth! What's there not to love? ;)
A few honourable mentions - in some cases, it wasn't easy to decide who'd go onto the main list and who here:
Naveen Andrews
Sean Bean
Josh Holloway
Harold Perrineau Jr.
Ramon Tikaram
