Top 20 things about me:
1. I’m allergic to chocolates, and on certain days, depending on the state of my allergens, shrimps. I tell people this in case they want to feed me.
2. I wish I had Tracyanne Campbell’s voice.
3. I love jackets and sweaters and cardigans.
4. I consider myself to be one of the most pessimistic and boring person I have ever met. My friends and my mother consider me one of the weirdest people they’ve ever met.
5. If I don’t read before going to sleep, there is a good chance that I will have a nightmare.
6. I’m in the news industry for the long haul.
7. Feist’s Let It Die album almost made me cry.
8. Between the two of us, my younger brother is more socially well-adjusted.
9. On my 16th birthday, I played hooky from school, went to a bookstore, and gifted myself with an anthology called Eight American Poets. The eight are Theodore Roethke, Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell, John Berryman, Anne Sexton, Sylvia Plath, James Merrill, and Allen Ginsberg. All of them had death wishes and were suicidal/suicides. I have to admit that it was not a healthy reading selection for a sulking sixteen- year old.
10. When I was 19, I became a fellow for fiction at a writer’s workshop. It was an awful experience and the two stories that got me in - results of a fiction writing class I HAD to take - are now under my closet. I hope they’re rotting.
11. I suffer from migraines.
12. I recently gained ten pounds.
13. I still read children’s books and young adult fiction.
14. I like grocery shopping and planning meals.
15. I hate beaches, or to be specific, the hedonistic beach culture.
16. I hate public relations people.
17. Of all my literary crushes, Paul Atreides (Dune) takes the top spot, followed by Nicholas Urfe (The Magus) and Oscar Hopkins (Oscar and Lucinda).
18. I never understood algebra. How did the letters become numbers, my arch-nemesis?
19. I like going to the movies by myself.
20. I’m a coffee addict. If I don’t drink brewed coffee in the mornings, I go on withdrawal syndrome - migraines, body malaise, the works.
