halo
Remember those walls I built,
well, baby they're tumbling down
And they didn't even put up a fight,
they didn't even make up a sound

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Jessica is hard to decipher. She isn’t the easiest person in the world to read and her emotions are normally kept deep, deep inside her Ice Princess heart. She doesn’t like to explain things and she doesn’t like to give away too many clues. She really is someone hard to work out.

Everyone in the world knows Donghae. He is the way-too-cute, happy-go-lucky fishy of Super Junior. Everyone knows when he is happy and everyone knows when he is sad. Everyone knows everything that he feels because he lets them in - he isn’t afraid to show people that he is upset, he isn’t afraid to let people know he is angry. He is someone who can be read as a book.

And that is why they work out so well. Donghae knows when Jessica is upset, or angry, or tired or any other emotion she doesn’t show anyone. He knows how to melt the walls she tried to hard to build around her and he knows how to keep them down long enough to read her clearly.

From the first day that they met there was something, something about the tall, wide-grinned boy that made Jessica feel safe and secure. Something about his cheerful smile and warm aura bought her to him, pulled her in closer. Every time she was around him she would let those walls down, even just a fraction, and let him know that she was happy.

Well baby, I’m a put-on-a-show kind of girl
Don’t like the back seat, got to be first

To be completely and perfectly honest, Krystal was never cut out for the entertainment business. Ask anyone that she trained with, she was always just a tiny bit off key, always a little too stiff, always just a tad bit awkward. She would understand exactly what to do, understand how to get there but still, she struggled.

But it was her dream. Her dream to see her name in lights, to be known around the world, to sing and to dance and to share her love for music. She wanted to dress up and have her hair and make up done and perform in front of large audiences and make them gaze up at her in envy.

Secretly, it was her dream to share the stage with her sister.

Her sister - Ice Princess Jessica Jung - was already a seasoned professional before Krystal even turned 12. Jessica was already smiling in camera’s, jumping about on stage, wearing the clothes that Krystal wanted to wear, and singing the songs that Krystal wanted to sing. Her sister was already famous and living the dream that Krystal desperately wanted to get her hands on.

But it was a long shot.

She knew that to be on the same stage, to reach the same level, to have the same amount of fans, as her sister would take a lot of work, a lot of sweat, tears (and blood) and it was going to take a very long time. But she didn’t care. Everyday she would try and better herself, practice and practice over and over again until her feet would hurt and her body would ache. She would train to be better than everyone else.

So the one day she will get up on that stage, look at her sister and sing with her. One day she will get that duet, or that dance break, or the f(x) Generation collaboration. One day she will be able to smile and look at her sister and say

“Look unnie, I am finally just like you”

“Oppa I’m going to go solo!” She grinned happily, bursting into the dance studio doors and into his arms. She didn’t realise it but she was screaming and giggling while Donghae spun her around in his arms, cheering with her.

Years passed and more and more trainees began to join the company. Groups were being formed by the day and everyone was in jitters, as there was talk that a new boy band and a girl group would be debuting within the coming weeks. Donghae had a scheduled lunch with Jessica and when she didn’t turn up he began to worry.

He searched for her all over the building, and when he couldn’t find her anywhere he went up to the roof. He found her there, curled up on the ledge, her knees locked by her arms to her chest. As he came closer he could hear her sobbing, he could sense the ice in the air and saw the redness in her eyes. “Sica, what’s wrong?”

She jumped at his voice, pushing off the ledge and standing up, scowling defensively “Nothing” He paused for a second and waited, looking out at the city below them “I’m not going solo anymore”

“I figured” He whispered, still looking out at the city “When did you find out?”

“Just than. I’m part of this group called Girls Generation - what sort of name is that?!”

He chuckled “It doesn’t sound that bad” He looked at her with a soft smile, and held his hand out for her to take “Come here”

She took his hand and sat back on the ledge next to him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in tightly. She leaned her head against his shoulder and felt the warmth radiating off him. “Oppa do you think I could go solo?” She murmured, the vulnerability obvious in her voice

“Jessica” He whispered, turning to lean his chin on top of her dark brunette curls “I think you could be anything you want to be; sky’s the limit for you baby” He as he interlaced his fingers in hers, he kissed the top of her hair lightly “I promise”

Tiffany sobbed harder, as she gripped the pillow closer to her chest. Her phone sat next to her, open wide, a freshly opened text from Seung Ri sitting on the screen. Jessica entered the room quietly, tiptoeing towards the younger girl. She paused to settle the tray of food on the bed side table and turn to take the phone off the bed.

Tiffany’s hand shot out and grabbed Jessica wrist “Give it back! He might text an apology!”

Jessica sighed and wriggled her wrist free “Tiffany, honey, it’s over, he isn’t coming back”

“HE IS! HE IS!” Tiffany cried out in English.

Jessica sat next to the young girl and pulled her into a tight hug “Look boys like Seung Ri are stupid and don’t know what they are missing out on, there are so many better people in the world Tiffany”

“Like who?”

“Someone who is always there for you, who wont break your heart in two like Seung Ri did” Jessica began, squeezing the girl tighter. A smile formed on her face at the same time the words formed in her head

“Someone like me”

Yuri didn’t realise that she was that easy to get over. She was with Jessica for most of their university life (which is about 3 to 4 years) and thought that Jessica would take a while to move on. It had been only a month since Yuri broke up with her (Jessica wanted to get married and Yuri refused to propose) and even now Yuri is struggling to move on.

But there she was, in all her blonde glory, grinding and bumping into her date on the dance floor. She was dress in a red, strapless mini dress, her blonde hair falling by her shoulders as she rubbed herself onto the people surrounding her. She waved her hands in the air and, much to Yuri’s horror, bought the guy she was dancing with into a long kiss.

Yuri tried to look away as Jessica grabbed his hand and bought him towards the bar. She had no choice but to give Jessica a weak smile when she recognised the younger girl “Yuri-ah!” Jessica cheered happily, hugging her

“Oh, Sica unnie, how are you?” Yuri said through a fake smile.

Yuri cringed silently as Jessica threw her arm around her date and pulled him in for another kiss. Yuri could smell the alcohol emitting itself off them from a mile away “Oh I am great Yuri; our break up was one of the best things that happened to me”

“Oh?” Yuri felt a little hurt at her words

Jessica nodded “If we had never broken up I would have never met Hankyung here” She grinned planting a kiss on his cheek. Hankyung looked at his watch and whispered something into Jessica’s ear “Oh okay, I guess we should go now” Jessica laughed loudly, as she waved goodbye to Yuri.

Yuri watched, in jealousy, Jessica leave the club with Hankyung’s hand around her waist, slowly moving down her back with each step they took. Memories of the two of them began to flood back to Yuri and she sighed.

“Its your fault for having commitment issues” Sooyoung laughed from behind the counter, wiping down a glass

“How is it?”

“If you liked it than you should’ve put a ring on it” Sooyoung laughed, setting another shot of vodka on the counter before Yuri. Yuri shot Sooyoung a deadly look and downed the drink in one shot.
