moved again!

Aug 07, 2011 19:41

hello all, you may remember me from back in may. wellp, the people i lived with there turned out to be crazy, but luckily we made it through the summer as planned. and now i'm renting a room with people more my age who are not relatives, which i find is MUCH less stressful!

my camera is not always of the best quality, so apologies for any slightly blurry shots.

and as i said in the last post:
just so you know, this post includes photos of the remains of animals who have died. it is a spiritual practice and crafting hobby of mine to preserve and work with these animals. they are given utmost respect, and none of them have been killed explicitly for this purpose.

stormy says come in!

my bathmat is my bedroom mat at the moment, lol.

i didn't take any decent photos of it, but you may be able to tell from this photo or the last one the amount of clear floor space i have. it's a surprisingly nice amount, i'd say around half the room is open space.

here is the back of the door [no idea where that hole came from, as far as i can tell a child used to occupy this room - the closet door has crayon marks!], complete with lots of my hoodies, scarves and shawls. this was the thing about this room that got me really excited, was the amount of hooks in the closet and here behind the door!

the floor by the door, with my improvised hatstand, stormy's dishes, and my umbrella [which looks fabulous against the sky blue, if i say so myself].

the full shelf along with the hatstand. spoiler: the hatstand is actually a lamp that was here when i moved in, but it was missing parts, so i decided to just use it for something else. i don't think it's too awful ghetto, haha!

here are detailed shots of the shelves:

my sketchbooks from age 2-present, dragonology book [because it won't fit on any other shelves haha], shark hatchling, fox bones and the tiny vials you saw in the last update. [btw, if anyone's new and didn't see my post back in may, and is curious about any of my specimens, i'll be happy to explain further.]
also, a cicada molt i found outside:

somehow i had never seen one of these before and it fascinated me! so beautiful.

shelf 2: movies, games, magazines, reference books, yearbooks, and Grey's Anatomy.

shelf 3: as you can see, i've gone back to the color-organization style. also observe my anatomical coloring book. yes, this is a legit textbook for my class. yes, it is really a coloring book full of anatomical depictions of the human body. my life is awesome @w@

shelf 4: neutral colored books, my deer skull, and two wet specimens.

shelf 5: my series. i've acquired the His Dark Materials series at last! and i only need one more book of the Pit Dragons and Age of Fire series.

beside my bookshelf, something else that was in the room when i moved in: a triangular, odd little metal cabinet. i think it's meant to go in a bathroom, but the mirror was handy, and i figured i'd make use of it. [squirrel skull and knucklebone from a deer on top there next to my clock.]

here is the inside! i cut up one of my moving boxes and made those shelves so i could fill this space with stuff. so it's now my witchy medicine cabinet :]!

to the left of the bookcase and cabinet is my altar, now back to its original triangular table form. which i prefer, tbh. i feel like the surface i put my altar on is almost as important as what i put on it.
also, the tank of Ruth, my leopard gecko.

a more detailed shot of my altar...

and Ruth. :D he actually very rarely comes out of his cave - i got him to come out with the promise of fresh crickets to eat, hehe.

and here we have my desk!

you will notice that in the most recent move one of the doors blew off the hutch up there. next time i am calling the shots when it comes to hauling the furniture, that's all i'm going to say about that. >:|
and yes, Fox's skin lives on the wall there now, haha. i just hung him there for convenience during the move, but he seemed to like it, so there he stays. the fox bones on the bookshelf, btw, are from the very same animal :]
[anyone who wants detailed shots of this area will recieve them too :3]

and wastebasket and the bottom of the birdcage!

you might not remember this cage being here in my last post, and you're right: my bird hung out in the living room over the summer. but i think he is much healthier and happier back in here with me, where he can keep his door open all day as long as i'm here, and not have to worry about getting in trouble.

king of the castle: Arthur Weasley Dent, or Arty for short.

nearby is the fan, and the TV. yep, my TV grew, lol. and yep, i'm watching PoTC.

shot of that side of the room with the window. the window looks out onto the porch, which can be nice if i accidentally lock myself out of the house.

something else unusual about my room - a wall-mount TV stand was here when i moved in. i can fit my laptop up there perfectly, but it'd be a laugh to even try and mount my huge TV on it, so mostly i just put my wallet and what i'm currently reading up there, or whatever is convenient.

bed! along with my stuffed jellyfish, pikachu and the indubitable Capt. Eyebrows McGee, who has reign of the bed once more.
oh and, yes. i like keys. did you notice the ones above and on my desk, near the window, and the Cross Keys hotel room sign above my bed? :>

'nother bed shot. that big brown bag is filled with CANDY. i live so close to the candy store now omg

still getting used to this having-an-under-the-bed-area thing. until may i had a waterbed frame.

and here is my closet - i have a proper closet at last! although in these photos it needs laundering, lol.

more closet shots

and lastly, here are the adorable little pulls i got for my ceiling fan. whoever lived there last removed the old ones, and i couldn't reach, so. i've always had trouble remembering which one did which thing, so this helps a lot :D

ruth thanks you for your time C:

colors: blue, bed: double or larger, books, closets, bookcases, pets, animals
