My room.
Hey! I'm Katie and I'm 20 years old. I'm currently a student in Palmerston North, New Zealand. I moved into a flat for the first time this year so decided I was going to decorate my room in a completely new way. I decided to go for a sort of beach/summer theme because that makes me happy but I haven't got shells etc around the place. Its mostly just summery colours. I don't really like shells and stuff as decorations. I cant change the wall colour (which I am very okay with) or the carpet (which isn't so pretty) but I am very happy with my room. It's image heavy btw. Woah sorry about the cut problems! Hope its all fixed now.

You see my bed as soon as you walk into my room. I made the cushion covers myself. Owls are one of my favourite animals, I just love them so there are a few owl figurines etc around my room. Behind the owl cushion is two blue and white striped cushions that I made after I couldn't find any cushion covers that worked with my room. Above the bed are some of my favourite snapshots mounted on foam board so they stick out from the wall. At the foot of the bed sits my cane chest that is home to my linens with a throw on top.
One of my bedside tables with some of my text books on the bottom shelf, a candle in a jar on the middle shelf and the two books I am reading at the moment baby no eyes by Patricia Grace and The Face of Battle by John Keegan (one of the recommended text for one of my papers). You can see one of my owl figurines next to the blue candle. That is my fantastic transformers skateboard that has crappy movement but I can't throw out cause I love transformers too much, my soccer ball and my awesome snowboard. I've had a lot of fun times up on the mountain with that.
Here you can see my favourite shoes (the rest are stored in a mess under my bed) . This is my entertainment centre with my awesome star book ends on top. Unfortunately I dont have use for them but they are too cool to throw out.
My dvd collection! Mostly girly movies. My favourites are the ones in the top left. The bottom left are war documentaries I watch for my degree (I'm double majoring in Geograpraphy and Defence Studies).
My tv etc sits below my window. This is with the curtains open showing my fairy lights and some artwork I did last year in the three windows.

My desk area with my power chair. Home to my laptop, fish tank, organiser, artwork and fireman calendar (I always get disgusted noises from the boys and whistles from the girls when my friends see this) :)
Some of my artwork, I don't consider myself very talented at painting/drawing. I'm average but I'm okay with that. The photo is from a shoot I did of my best friend and one of her horses. You can see one of the other photos from the shoot in the lower right hand corner of the previous photo.
A close up of my fish tank. I have two fish... Axel and Xerxies. You can see a glimpse of Axel in the photo (that orange blob) but Xerxies isn't visible.
The back of my door has heaps of my snapshots. I'm not too happy with the layout but it will do for now. Next to the door is some more of my paintings and two hat boxes filled with random beauty products. And my scarf, hat, glove etc basket. And a blank canvas waiting for me to get creative again.
My rocking chair that sits in the corner of the room next to my bookcase. Above it on the corner shelf is my darling Ugly doll called Took-Took with a stone saying hope next to it.
My bookcase! This has to be one of my favourite pieces in the room. I have quite a few more books but can't fit them in and don't want to give up the shelves with the figurines. Yes... those are twilight books but I was given two of them and bought one :P. That silver figurine is of a woman and man kissing. I love it. Some of the other books include body language books, the tomorrow series, fairy tales (modern and classic) and many others.
These are some of my portfolio photographs that have just been put up haphazardly on the wall. I'm quite happy with some of them.
My chest of drawers that fit very nicely into the little random nook. I think it use to be a fireplace since our house is made up of two houses put together and was remodelled a lot. The top section is reallllllyyy messy. I need to sort that out. The boxes hold my paints, my sewing stuff, my cards and some of my photos. My necklaces on a piece of wood tied up on the bar with a ribbon and my bracelets are just scattered on the top of the drawers. My earrings live on a frame with mosquito netting glued to it.
And lastly my small wardrobe. The top canvas thing has a list of things I love. And the bottom is just a bike. Thanks for coming!!!
